Brother second try

Wereplaced our existing Brother MFC-L2740W with the same model. The previous model which we had a few years was no longer performing duplex printing, and copy paper was jamming from time to time. We figured cost/time/effort to repair suggested a change, as the drum was in its final stages for heavy use, and is costly to replace. We decided to stay with same model, due to pleasing performance as printer, copier, scanner.
I would recommend this to a friend!

great for home use

Great printer however I would NOT recommend this printer for office use. It goes through toner faster than any other brother printer I have had in the past.

Great Printer - Scanner?

Great printer. Quality is just what I expected. Scanner is lacking in full letter sized scans. It will crop the page to the point that notations in the margins may be lost.

Solid MFC - Networking could be improved

Your MFC-L2740DW is a really well designed multi function monochrome printer. It's fast and setup was mostly easy. The one thing you could improve can probably be accomplished with a firmware upgrade. Currently it's impossible to activate networking on the NIC and Wifi simultaneously. This means in environments where there's a wired network infrastructure it's impossible to take advantage of direct wifi printing from phones and tablets. If you could rewrite the firmware so both the NIC and the WIfi hardware could take separate DHCP IP addresses, you could probably activate both connections! Please give it a try. It would be a welcome improvement.

Never able to print wirelessly

I spent hours on the phone with lovely support folks at both brother and spoke but I can only print with a hard wired cable from my Mac to this printer. Life is too short, I just hook up the cable .. not able to print from iPhone at all.

Great toner economy and stress-free printing

I replaced my ink guzzling inkjet printer with this multifunction gem and haven't looked back. Still haven't had to replace the toner that came with the printer and it's been months of daily printing. Use of all the functions is easy and intuitive. Unit is so quiet and fast. So far I see zero negatives.
