The printer performs fine but the quality of print is inferior to other older products. Furthermore, the characters are not as clear. It is as if there is not enough ink compared to my previous Samsung printer. It is the normal performance of the printer and not a defect or a depleted tonner. This even though the print quality is maxed out. The printer software Brother utilities is really slow and of inferior quality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still does not work with my Apple computer

Everything is all right other than I can not use my printer without constant hassle, it does not work with Apple computer, called so many times, I was told a patch would be available soon. Still nothing. I am still waiting.

Wifi sleep issue

I'm running a iMac with OS10.10.3. Printer works nice. It's quieter than my old HP LaserJet 1300. Scanner works well. I am currently connected via wifi via a wifi router that is on the same network my Mac is on. When I turn the printer on it connects and prints as expected. But after a while the printer sleeps and can't be found by my Mac. The manual says it should wake up but it doesn't. When I press the printer home button or LCD to wake the printer up, it still can't be found. I tried customer support and made sure that all the software is current. Yesterday I went for several hours leaving the Brother "Status Monitor" screen open on my desktop and the printer stayed connected. But the previous day it lost connection. This must be a Brother firmware issue.

Good News/Bad News

I had a MFC-7860DW, but had to dump it because there was so much odor from the printing process. I then bought a MFC-L2740DW thinking my problem would be solved. It wasn't. There is still a pungent odor (although less) during printing. I changed from Georgia Pacific paper to Dollar General (DG) paper. It still smelled, but not as much.
If I print 30-50 pages to print a manual, etc. the odor lingers in the house for several days. I am using the original DR-630 drum and TN-630 toner that came with the machine.
Has Brother reformulated the toner? It smells as bad as the old HP II printers.

Best Printer I ever purchased.

I had a little problem connecting the Brothers for a wireless set. I emailed the Brothers support number explaining my problem and they scheduled for a support person to call me the next day. This was a pleasant experience. Had me up and running in about 10 minutes. I give Brothers a 10 for support.
I love this printer It is fast and it does duplex printing copying and scanning. Very fast.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't Buy

I have had this product for over 4 weeks now. Have not been able to send and receive Faxes.
Called Brother Service on Two occasions to try and figure out what was wrong was able to get it to work once (1 time) then it would lock up. and not send or receive again. The help line persons were very helpful but in the end they told me to contact the phone company that it was the phone line. I find that hard to believe since this was a replacement for a fax that was used for 7 years. So I just bought another FAX machine and it work fine. Also was unable to get this unit to network with any of the other computers. This is a real lemon. DO NOT BUY.
