One Viewing Is Plenty

While not a poor film in any sense, the only reservation I have in regards to 'the Usual Suspects' is that once you've seen it, there's really no need to watch it again. Widescreen with plenty of bonus features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Yes, this film is a classic. I had to write a review after seeing another reviewer claim that there is no reason to watch this film again.
This cast is just amazing - Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio Del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollack and Chazz Palminteri all give outstanding performances individually, and collectively they are mesmerizing. I have watched this film many times just for this aspect.
Another exceptional component of this work is its dialog: hysterical at times, ominous at others, suspenseful always. You will replay lines in your mind long after seeing the film. "Sure you brought enough guys?" "I live in Queens" "Flip you for real" "Give me the keys"
The soundtrack is sneaky. You don't realize it's there most times, but it does a superb job of building tension.
It's hard to tell what's best about this film: the performances, the dialog, or the basic storyline. This is a storyline that you might or might not get the first time around, but additional nuances will likely be revealed after repeated viewing. And since it's such a pleasure to watch, what's the harm?
If you've already got the DVD, I'd wonder whether getting the Blu-ray version was worth it, mainly because it lacks the bonus material I have on my CD. I've even listened to the commentary more than once, but if you're a videophile, be sure to get both: DVD and Blu-ray.

Good movie. It has great directing and a great cast. Most of all, it has a great twist for an ending. However, I would recommend this movie for viewing but not necessarily for purchasing. Mainly because, this movie is a one time movie. As in, once I saw this movie, I had no desire to watch it again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good film, most people have seen this I assume. Classic performances, copied many times. For fans this is recommended, for new comers, if you enjoy a good surprise and great cast, check it out.
What's great about it: A decent blu ray transfer, nothing that shocks and stuns, but decent.
What's not so great: There is really just a movie on this Blu ray disc.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This movie is simply amazing, as anyone who has seen it will tell you. My only problem with this release is the lack of special features. However, this seems to be par for the course with MGM. This is a great transfer that looks and sounds great. It is just a shame that MGM seems to be planning a double dip this early in the game.
What's great about it: A great Transfer
What's not so great: a bare bones release

I recently purchased this movie again on blue ray and I can say it certainly has re-watch value. I think a great amount of the fun is experiencing the suprise ending with someone that hasn't seen the film before (which is actually why I bought it). Truth be told I think I enjoyed it just as much. If this is not already a part of your movie collection you need to make one.
What's great about it: The story and plot twists
What's not so great: Nothing
I would recommend this to a friend!
