Intuitive controls

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This purchase was for a rental. The controls are basic and intuitive. My tenants didn't need to read a manual or have an engineering degree to operate. This is a good, solid, decent looking microwave and I expect it will be trouble free.

Worse then the model I was replacing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this model to replace an earlier spacemaker model (JVM1540DN1WW). Not impressed. Installation was not what I expected.
Instead of just taking the old model off and installing the new model, I had to remove the old mounting plate and drill new holes in the wall for the new one. This one only had to clips in the back to mount to unlike the older model that had four.
On top of the unit, there were only two mounting holes (older model had three) and of course the new holes did not line up with the old ones, more drilling.
This microwave is installed on an interior wall, thus I had to go with the non-vented ductless recirculating setup. Since my cabinets are not as deep as the microwave, it sticks out a little (same issue with the older model) which causes a problem. On the newer model, the area above the front vent is open and more air blows out through that then through the vents. Also, this model does not come with the charcoal filter. The area above the vents on the older model was completely enclosed.
Other than a smaller plate inside and being able to take the front vent off to clean, I do not see any difference between the older and newer model. With that being said, it was quite a hassle just to replace a simple microwave.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

installation and hinges were poor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hinges bent in first couple times it was opened. They were not the same quality as the model i replaced. Also the mounting plate was not the same as the other ge model i replaced.

Easy install and excellent features

I was scared of the install I guess. Actually the install was easier than removing the old one.. I love the new microwave. I also like the fact it has a rack in the middle for larger dishes.. Makes my cooking a whole lot easier..Thanks, GE
