We purchased this refer at the end of December, 2017. We loved everything it had to offer us, especially the door-in-door feature. Unfortunately, we were never advised by LG of the Class Action Suit that had formed which included mechanical problems with our unit. Because we weren't informed, the window to join the Suit ended a few months before our refer broke down and quit working overnight, resulting in a lot of wasted money in spoiled food!! Fortunately for us, as an outcome of the Class Action Suit, LG had to extend their warranty on these affected models to 5 years. We luckily made it within the new 5 year period by 3 months!! LG took responsibility for the repair! I did some checking and found out that the part that had to be replaced, (the Evaporator) had NOT received any improvement or upgrades to our original Evaporator!!! This was quite disturbing knowing that we were putting a possible '4 year and then go out again' part back into our refer!! Had LG made a better Evaporator that wouldn't fail after 4 years, we would have given this Refrigerator a 5 Star "Excellent Rating" instead of a 2.

I wonder why LG is selling failing refrigerators inspite knowing they are not reliable. This is the second LG refrigerator in last 5years with 5th time failing compressor and living without refrigerator last 1month. Why should we pay for labor charge when refrigerator warranty is out of 1year and there is a known compressor fault that is LG’s responsibility to address.

I love the design and space it has, but it is just not worth the money or the trouble. I have spent more than half of the original price of the refrigerator in repairs.

Nice fridge, but faulty compressor does not last

I bought this model 7 years ago. Very spacious and had all the features I needed. Unfortunately last month the compressor just died. I had no idea that LG was sued and settled a lawsuit related to their faulty compressors. I missed opting into the lawsuit. I tried to get an authorized LG approved service technician come to my house but my location was basically out of their service area (there aren’t many authorized shops that deal with LG refrigerators). I instead got another service provider who basically told me that no one wants to deal with LG compressor repairs as it is a nightmare. Just to be clear the compressor is now covered under a 10-year part warranty, but you will have to eat the cost of the labor for repair. And that is not cheap. It can cost up to half the price of a brand new refrigerator, and if that is the case it just isn’t financially or practically feasible. This was my case. I bought another refrigerator and told them to haul away the LG piece of junk. If LG can get the compressors fixed their refrigerators are actually very nice, when they actually work.

We bought our Lg in 2018 and now it’s stopped cooling fridge and freezer. I go online to look up our warranty and see hundreds of complaints regarding same thing. I’ve so mad that I wasn’t money on this product. Never bought something brand new that went out this quick! Based on reviews, this is junk.
