I bought this fridge 3.5 years ago and bought a 3 year warranty which expired in February...of course...and now have the same issues as most people here. Freezer died first and the next day the fridge died. I have been trying to get it repaired for almost a week so far (not via LG) and based on all of the comments I think I am not going to take the chance on having multiple repairs or even getting this one repaired! Forever changed!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We've had this fridge for almost 6 yrs (next month) with no complaints, until I noticed the freezer wasn't keeping things as cold as they should be (things were frozen, but ice cream & bread weren't quite frozen enough). Glad we bought the extended warranty - LG repairman was great & he replaced the compressor. It's only been 2 weeks since the repair, but we haven't had any other issues whatsoever. If you have a large family, this could be the fridge for you (just buy the extended warranty to be safe).

Recently the compressor went out and LG covered the cost of parts and labor! I was surprised they did that for us.
All my kitchen appliances are LG, so I have no worries.
