The shame of this album is that it's a new direction for Linkin Park that really WORKS on about 4 of the tracks, but the other 8 are so forgettable and lame that it's hard to get too hot and bothered over it. I definitely recommend it to LP fans, if just for the 4 songs that are really hot, but casual rock fans (or recovering rap rock junkies) might not be too impressed.

This album is GREAT in many ways. It has very influenced music, and doesn't feel fake... well, mostly. My biggest complaint is that In Between just isn't Mike... at all... if you want to hear him REALLY sing, then go find No Roads Left. All in all, this finally breaks free of the last albums (Reanimation being in its own category) and brings with it amazing music. After hearing all of their albums a few hundred times, this is DEFINATELY my favorite.
What's great about it: Great singing, solid songs
What's not so great: A bit slow and light for some people, In Between

Rock doesn't get better than Linkin Park these days. Although this CD sounds different then Hybrid Theory and Meteora, it is still perfect. The fact remains that Linkin Park is an awesome, talented band, make sure you have this CD in your collection!
What's great about it: same great Linkin Park writting

In "Minutes to Midnight," Linkin Park has adapted to fit the times. In their old albums, they were all about mixing rap with metal. In this album, they're much more mainstream. A great example of this is the hit single, "What I've Done." A great song, but different from what they used to do. For the most part, it'll be disappointing to long-time fans of the group, but it's a great album for a newcomer to this band. For those oldtimers, though, there's some hope. "Hands Held High" is a reminder of songs past; the song is a little softer, but there's enough rapping in there to make any original fan happy.
What's great about it: Appeals to a wider audience
What's not so great: Not as unique as their previous work

This is definitely a CD to have in your collection! Though this is not the Linkin Park (LP) that we all remember, they do a great job putting together a CD with tracks that everyone will love! "Shadow of the Day" (#5) is just one of the most beautiful sounding songs with a very simple message. Buy this CD, you are guaranteed to like at least 3 songs!

This is the first Linkin Park album where they actually use profanity. Previously they had a genre of music that was suitable for all age groups. I think this use of adult language is excusable given the sparse use in comparison with most other popular artists of their genre. The album touches on a variety of subject matter including current event such as the war in Iraq. I haven't stopped playing this album since I bought it the day it came out.
What's great about it: Catchy, Moving, Deep, Controversial, Intense, Addictive
