In the third series of the new run of Doctor Who, David Tennant's 10th Incarnation returns weary from battle and the loss of his companion Rose Tyler. In this season he is joined by the young medical student Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman. This season also contains the return of former companion Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), and the arrival of a terrible former rival of the Doctor's who may well spell the end of the human race. Continuing the breathtaking visuals and compelling stories of the first two series, the creative team returns with stories of Shakespeare, Intergalactic Traffic Jams, an alien plot surrounding the construction of the empire state building, and a story where the Doctor goes on the ultimate adventure, becoming human. In addition to the amazing episodes of the third season, this DVD set also includes the Season Three run of "Doctor Who Confidential" the Children in Need concert special, audio and in-vision commentaries and other behind the scenes extras. A must-have for any and all sci-fi collections, Whovians and non-Whovians alike. :)

I think the new Doctor Who show is great.David Tenant does a good job.Of course my favorite Doctor is the 3rd Doctor played by Jon Pertwee in the orginal series. Series 3 has some great episodes. The scariest episode of the season is Blink and I jumped a few times while watching the episode. The Daleks also retun this season. The 3 part series final is realy good with The Return of an old enemy of the Doctor.A great set of episodes.

Series three of the new Doctor Who is very entertaining, but somewhat uneven. The season starts with a bang as the Doctor meets his newest companion, medical student Martha Jones, when her teaching hospital is highjacked to the moon. The Shakespeare Code has the Doctor and Martha back in time to foil an alien plot with the help of William Shakespeare, but after the first few episodes I found the season somewhat dragging. The end of the season more than makes up for the middle though-- Blink, with it's terrifying statues is probably the best single episode of the revived series to date. And the season ending three-parter brings back both an old friend in Captain Jack and an old foe with the surprise return of the Master. John Simm clearly had a ball in this roles, and it's not to be missed. I'll even overlook the silliness of the Tinkerbell- deus ex machina ending to watch Simms' master ham it up.

I was unsure what to expect from this season of "Doctor Who" because Rose isn't around anymore, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I watched. Although I'm still not a big fan of Martha Jones, Freema Ayeman deserves credit, as following up to Rose Tyler and season two is a bit hard to do. Episodes eight and nine, 'Human Nature' and 'The Family of Blood' were certainly favourites of mine (I watched them over about six times!), because the Doctor was doing things that weren't really, well, Doctor-ish. 'Blink' was awesome, but I found it a little wacky, maybe even disturbing. The new Doctor finally met up again with Jack Harkness (who shamelessly flirted with both Martha and blue alien) and it was a real treat to see this 3-parter. John Simm was humourous as 'The Master', a pretty strange (maybe even a little crazy), Time Lord. Over all, this was a pretty good season, but I still miss Rose.
What's great about it: The original episodes, the comedy mixed with peril, and of course, the Doctor
