Do not buy this product if you own a home or more the one pet. The bottom foam filter has to be clean constantly, brush collects hair. Cord is in an odd spot and in the way. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Yes it does pick up some hair but with a total of 4 animals I am not impressed at all. When I saw it said pet hair eraser I was expecting a lot more. Apparently it is just for if you have one pet or a pet that doesn't shed much.
What's great about it: Works good at first.
What's not so great: Clogs easily with the bottom filter. Doesn't pick up long hair. Brush clogs as well.

This vaccum is a piece of junk. We had gotten it when our dirt devil conked out. When we took it out of the box it worked amazingly. 6 months later it cloggetd up. I would clean all the filters and it wouldn't work. It kept doing this for 6 month. Now the wires are exposed and its going to the dump. That 149 dollars could have been saved by bying the dyson. Overall Its a piece of junk.

We have two cats and one dog and the dog sheds constantly. We really needed to find a vacuum that could take care of all the pet hair floating around the house. We settled on the Bissell after reading reviews here and on the internet. On the positive side, this thing cleans up hair and dirt great. The attachments work great to take hair off of furniture and the vacuum has plenty of suction to pick everything up. That brings us to the cons though. It has great suction IF you keep all the filters clean and empty the dirt bin constantly. Our house is probably an extreme case since our dog sheds sooo much but you have to empty the dirt container at least once per room. When you empty the dirt bin dust goes everywhere. You have to wipe the vacuum off or suction it off after emptying to get all the dirt off the outside of the vacuum. The reusable foam filter needs to be cleaned constantly, at least once a week. Hair piles up in there and if you dont check it all the time it clogs up inside and you have to dig the hair out. There is also a lot of dust and dirt that goes flying when you clean it out. We have owned the vacuum for about 4 months now and have had to replace the HEPA filter twice so far. The suction of the vacuum really falls off once the HEPA and foam filters get dirty. Another complaint is that pet hair gets easily jammed up in the spinning brush attachment and I've had to take it apart a few times to pull all the hair out so it will work again. If you don't put everything back in right it wont work correctly and the process isn't that simple. For the less mechanically inclined they might not be able to do this procedure. The design needs to be revised in order to correct this annoying problem. The only other complaint is that the curved tube attached to the hose where you connect the attachments can be pain due to the curve when you are trying to clean at certain angles. For shorter users this may not be a problem but I'm 6'4" and I have to bend over constantly to use it on the couch. Overall this is a very good vacuum that with some minor design changes could be great. When you factor in the price it certainly is a good bang for the buck verses the much more expensive units in this category.
What's great about it: Picks up all the dirt, removes pet hair great
What's not so great: Very dirty when emptying dirt container, constantly cleaning filters

My Bad for buying this product. I've had it less than a month and it's been in the shop twice. This last time for a burned out motor, yep, that's right a burned out motor. We vac once maybe twice a week, mostly on hardwood floors, the canister gets dumped before it's full, but this device decides to up and die after maybe 4 times? It's also heavy and not balanced properly, my wife is short (4' 11") and it wears her out to use it.
Sorry, I will not let a machine get the better of me, I should have done my homework a bit better. You get what you pay for, next time I'll spend a little more.

I purchased this vacuum back in July of this year to deal with a pet hair problem in my home (2 dogs & the old vacuum was barely getting the hair off the carpets). After a little assembly it was off & running. I was impressed at first by the amount of stuff it pulled out of the rugs, but that was short lived. Within 2 months we saw a loss of suction & rotation in the brushes. I have cleaned the filters, cleaned the brushes & I dump the canister repeatedly during cleaning. Still, the motor has already burnt out. The brush only rotates if it's not in contact with the floor. I'm so disappointed in this vacuum. I know things just aren't built like they used to be, but I WILL NOT buy another Bissell after this. For the cost I paid, I shouldn't be shopping for another vacuum 6 months later!!!! Needless to say, I'm biting the bullet and buying the Dyson
What's great about it: Great suction for a couple months
What's not so great: Owned less than 6 months before it died

I have a Siberian Husky and vaccuum 900 sq ft weekly. At least once, I have to stop and unplug the wind tunnel. Also, it doesn't come with a flat attachment to vaccuum the pool table with. If I could go back in time, I would not have chosen this vaccuum.
What's great about it: It picks up a lot of hair
What's not so great: Doesn't work for lots of long hair, attachments are lacking

I bought this vacuum several months ago because we had 7 cats and a pug. Sounded like the perfect one to pick up all the hair. It did okay for the first few months, then one day I went to use it and the brush no longer turned. I took it apart looking for any obvious obstructions or a broken belt...neither. Luckily I had purchased the extended warranty, it took about 2 weeks to get it back from Best Buy. It was something in the switch itself that turned the brush on. Now it's been breaking belts, which by the way, our Best Buy does NOT carry...good luck finding the replacement belt. I just replaced one of those and spent over an hour trying to vacuum a small living room. The brush keeps refusing to turn. I have to stop, take it apart, pull the brush out and put it back together to get it to turn again. Three times while vacuuming the living room, it stopped again as I went to do the hallway. I just gave up at that point and used the hose and one of the tools to finish that.
Another thing, this vacuum tips over very easily, while using the hose and attachments, you have to hold the vacuum handle with one hand. I've forgotten a few times and had it fall on me.
Something else that I forgot to mention. The bottom of the vacuum is plastic and of course builds up static. A lot of the hair sticks to it and then randomly falls off in big clumps. Something you thought the vacuum already picked up has to be vacuumed over again.
I would not recommend this to anyone. I'll be shopping for a new vacuum soon and will be more than happy to throw this one in the dumpster.
What's great about it: Not one thing.
What's not so great: You name it, it's not so great.

After reading all the reviews I decided to buy this monstrosity. I have a hairy dog which tends to shed allot. Add two kids into the mix and a husband who loves having the neighborhood kids inside to play I thought it would be ideal. Well as long as all you have to pick up is dog hair then the vacuum works well, just don’t add anything else to the mix. I mean nothing else - nothing larger than a speck will be picked up that includes paper, crumbs or even those little candies that kids love to much ( Nerds) NOTHING else will pick up. I am happy to report that after 6 months of trying to move this heavy thing around my house it is now Brocken . If you want to keep your back and invest in something that actually works DO NOT BUY THIS HORRIBLE Vacuum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
