This is the first portable radio I've ever owned that SAVED my personally preset stations, even when I changed batteries (provided I locked the unit)! And the outer construction of the unit is beyond excellence. I've dropped this unit more times than I can count and accidentally used it as a commuter train shuffleboard puck with nary a major scratch or nick.
What's great about it: Very easy to set up
What's not so great: Headphones are bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent little portable. radio. Can hear those distant stations at night hundreds of mules away. Battery life is great if you use Duracell Ultra. Takes about a month until it needs to be replaced. Uses only 1 AAA battery. Still works fine after buying it in spring 2003
What's great about it: Sensitivity and channel separation. Still works after 7 years.
What's not so great: No light on buttons or LCD. Longer clip so it will not fall to t. Oringinal foam on head phone distergrated after a year

This radio is a gem. Small enough to put in your pocket or handbag, it gets wonderful reception and can be set to 10 FM stations and 5AM station. Very reasonably priced.
What's great about it: It plays on commuter trains where other radios have trouble receiving a signal
What's not so great: No complaints at all.

Product is not reliable

The radio stopped working after 4 months. Sony only warrants products for 90 days. I had a Sony camera that also stopped working within the first year of use. Same problem - warranty is lousy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is the best travel companion that I can think of. Once again, Sony has demonstrated its technical prowess, dominance, and mastery of the portable audio product category. This Sony portable radio features excellent sensitivity and selectivity with respect to its broadcast FM/WB/AM reception capabilities. I feel lucky and fortunate to own it. This Sony Walkman radio is a small and lightweight unit that fits with ease in the palm of your hand, on your belt with supplied clip, or your shirt pocket. It is just comforting to notice the solid feel and sturdy build quality of this resilient Sony Walkman portable radio. This Sony Walkman is a go anywhere radio that performs well under adverse conditions including a very hot and humid summer day or a minor rainy weather event. When I am at the beach, or walking in my local park, or taking a stroll on the boardwalk, I can pick up my local weather band station with a slight tap of a direct preset button to get an instant forecast the moment I see some clouds begin to populate the horizon and accompanying skyline. Weather band reception enables me to plan the immediate future of my outing accurately and immediately with the latest meteorological forecast at any time. The supplied headphones fit nicely over the ears for fatigue-free listening for hours on end. The supplied open air headphones incorporate the system’s FM and Weather Band antenna. The FM stereo reception of my favorite music stations sound marvelous with near concert quality audio reproduction. Radio reception, in my experience, with this portable offers no static and drift-free reception performance. I don’t have to worry about an accidental station change or button press wherever I use my Sony Walkman, when I enable the unit’s hold feature. AM band listening is a pleasure. I can never get enough sports information. Whether it’s the latest score, trade rumor, analysis of tonight’s game, or general sports gossip, this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is always there to fulfill my interests. Talk radio programs and news broadcasts come in with great clarity and are easy to locate with the station preset feature. The battery life is seemingly endless. The Sony SRF-M37W portable radio requires one AAA battery that has never been consumed while in my possession. This amazing battery life longevity is wonderful because the radio’s operating costs are almost non-existent. I recommend a Duracell Ultra or Energizer Max AAA alkaline battery for maximum audio performance and battery life of this Sony radio. This Sony SRF-M37W Walkman has every feature that any radio or outdoor enthusiast could ask for. Those high quality features include: FM, AM, Channel 1-7 Weather Band reception, headphone cord FM/WB antenna, built-in AM antenna, direct weather button, digital tuner, FM local/distance switch, 20 station presets, LCD display, digital clock function, hold, band, power, time set/tuning seek buttons, 5 direct key preset memory buttons, battery life indicator, 3.5 mm headphone output jack, volume control, belt clip, operating instructions, and the portable radio also includes stereo headphones. With its accurate reception, powerful stereo sound, simple operation, weather band reception, and convenient multiple preset station settings, this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman is an outstanding performer for your own personal mobile audio requirements. It is my opinion, that this Sony Walkman does not demonstrate any flaws in ergonomic design, broadcast reception, or sound reproduction.
