so disappointed in this film! even my kids were complaining how bored they were. I was so glad to see the monsters start killing everyone!

115 MIN MOVIE KEEPS YOU INTERESTED,BUT DISSAPOINTS VIEWER TO SAY THE LEAST.IF THERE WAS THIRTY DIFFERENT ENDINGS TO CHOOSE FROM,THE DIRECTOR CHOSE THE WORST POSSIBLE ONE.
What's great about it: keeps you interested
What's not so great: very dissapointed

Don't make the mistake that I did! Don't Buy it!!!

The movie had alot of action, but the shaky camera shots. You get use to it after a while though and don't really notice it anymore, maily because you are more focused on figuring out what the heck is going on! But the problem is you never find out what is going on in the movie, yea you know that they are creatures, but that is it! There is never any explanation about what they are, were they came from or why they came! And to top it off there is no ending to this movie whatsoever, the movie just stops! It was almost like they ran out of film or they got through the movie and forgot to give it an ending, and then just left it like that! You knew about as much about what was happening in the beginning of the movie as you did when ended unannounced! This was a very big let down! The previews made it look like a great action packed SC-FI movie which it was except they forgot to tell you in the commercials that there was no ending! Don't Make the Mistake that I Did! DON'T BUY THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's great about it: Good action sequences
What's not so great: No ending!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A very straight foward, does NOT let you off the ride when it starts monster movie that went for the "Blair Witch Project" take of less is seen to keep you going until the end. If YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE VERY END!
(Spoiler Hint!) If you wish you could have a "Godzilla" movie the way it was meant to be made, but without the cheesyness of those movies made, you will love this movie! Also, if you could get past the soap opera sap, you will enjoy it also!
What's great about it: Old fashioned, old school romp & stomp monster movie!
What's not so great: Too fast!!! The "Gilmore Girls", "One Tree Hill" soap opera was a little much.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cloverfield is a movie from the brain of J.J.Abrams that isn't your typical sci-fi or action movie. Great camera work that puts you in the movie helps you feel the emotion of the characters in the scenes. Couple that with fantastic special effects and you've got a movie that grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until it's over. Well worth the purchase!
What's great about it: Great camera work and special effects.
What's not so great: Hmm...there really aren't that many...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not for the squeemish

This is a cool movie for people that like monster movies without much plot. In a nutshell--a going-away party gets interupted by a giant monster's attack on New York City. The ENTIRE film is shot from the point of view of one of the partygoers as they try to get across town to help a friend.
Beware-the camerawork can be sickening sometimes--if you had a hard time with the Blair Witch Project or people's home movies you'll have a hard time with this. Also, there are only a couple of shots of the monster. Most of this movie they are actively trying to avoid the monster, so that affects how much it's on screen.
There's not a lot to the acting, but then again, all they really have to do is scream a lot and run. The first 20 minutes or so are used to establish who the characters are, then the last hour is all running and screaming and such.
It' s an enjoyable and different take on the Godzilla style movies but it's not for everyone.
What's great about it: Fun way to shoot a monster movie
What's not so great: acting is okay but not great
I would recommend this to a friend!

All and all the movie wasn't that bad. If you didn't like the Blair Witch Project, then chances are that you won't like this one either. I don't remember the movie being trailered as this type of movie when I saw the preview. The movie theme itself I thought was great but would have enjoyed it more through your typical camera angle. I was okay with the video taping of the party, but when it continued throughout the entire movie, I found it annoying and I hoped the battery would run out or the camera would get smashed so we could view it normally.
If you like this type of movie, then you'll enjoy this one.
It is suspenseful and you experience what they are. I just found it distracting from the movie.
What's great about it: Great special effects
What's not so great: too much movement with camera angle
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
