Awesome camera!!

I finally replaced my 7D with the 7D Mark II and absolutely love this camera for sports and wildlife! The initial reviews totallly sold this camera short and is a huge upgrade from the Mark I in focus tracking and image quality. ISOs up to 3200 render outstanding photos. Many who sell this camera short are trying to compare it to a full-frame for image quality and that comparison will always fall short. Here's a quick list of my pros and cons:
Pros: - 10 fps, and 65 cross-type focus points - Excellent high ISO capabilities - Unlimited ways to customize to your shooting style - Built in intervelometer (it's about time Canon!) - AF cases
Cons: - Uses a ton of battery so get a few extra or a battery grip - My biggest complaint is the exposure meter in the Manual mode!!!!! It's a tiny little bar on th right side of the view finder and I can't stand it! I use M about 75% of the time and can't for the life of me figure out why Canon would change that ONLY for M... Please Canon, come out with a firmware fix to at least allow users to change it to the conventional location if they want...which they will!
If you shoot sports or wildlife you will not find a better APS-C camera on the market.

Fast and Sharp

Had this camera since November 2014 and after the firmware update, every photo is just as good as 5D Mark III, only difference? the full frame. This is an awesome camera for sports and I mostly used it too as for landscape, colors are vivid, so therefore, I only get to edit a little from a raw shot.

Fantastic Camera

This camera has very fast and accurate focusing. It feels solid in-hand with controls and switches well placed. To say that the 7D Mark ll is flexible, to meet photographers needs, is an understatement of it's capabilities! It offers a very large shot buffer to allow the capture of many action frames with a very high shutter rate to match. High ISO noise has been, for the most part, well tamed. When high ISO noise is present, it is extremely easy to remove without destroying details. Fantastic improvements to an already great previous model. .

Made switch from Nikon!

I shoot mainly Airshows, Landscapes and Wildlife. I had being using Nikon D7000 for some time and I loved it.
When the 7D Mark II it immediately caught my attention and once I tried it, I was sold, so I sold my Nikon camera and gear and switched to Canon for this. HUGE upgrade from the D7000. After around 6 months of using it, I have no regrets! Just love it!
The camera is awesome. It feels very solid and rugged. Not too heavy and very comfortable grip. I can carry it for hours. No problem.
The AF system is just insane. Once you lock onto your subject, it won't let go. It takes some practice to get used to it but once you do, it's amazing. Add to that the 10fps, big buffer and fast CF card and you can face any challenge. The GPS is definitely a great addition and you have so many options to customize the controls that you can really make it close to your shooting own style without sacrificing efficiency.
Coupled with the new Canon 100-400 mm Mk II, for me it's a combination sent from Heaven.
If you're a wildlife, sports, action (airshows!) shooter look no further... This is it!

Upgrade

After having the EOS 7D for about six years and being very pleased, I have upgraded. I shoot in low available light a lot, so am very pleased with the improvement in noise, it is definitely much lower. I am having some issues with battery drain, be sure you turn off the GPS when you do not need it.

Excellent Camera

I needed a second camera to compliment my 5D Mark lll and the 7 D Mark ll more than accomplishes that. I'm using it for sports and birds. I'm setting it up according to Arthur Morris' instructions, the only thing I'm having a problem with is getting it to track a bird in flight.

I upgraded from a T2i, and very glad I did! The massive number of cross type focus points and 10 fps definitely insures you get the shot you were looking for!! Image quality is light-years ahead of my entry level Canon Rebel, and continuous to surprise me!

7D Mark II

I have used Canon DSLRs for many years now and my 7D mark II is far my favorite. I shoot mainly landscape and sport photography. Having a fast FPS helped a lot on my sport gigs and having that crop sensor saved me a ton of money from buying a extension.
I would recommend this to a friend!
