Great Expectations Met and Exceeded

I made the decision to upgrade to this camera after using the 7D since it was first released. With Canon, I consider myself to be an early adopter. I bought the 30D, 40D, 50D and then the 7D. So, it was the same with the 7D Mark II. I had to buy one, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find a camera with improved build quality, blazing fast auto focus, and the quietest shutter release yet. It makes me feel like a better photographer, and since I'm shooting mostly nature, I am really psyched by the ease with which I have made the adjustment to new controls. They are well positioned and easy to learn. I love all of the choices that are available to those of us who relish the freedom to make them. Thanks for another great camera Canon!

The 7D Mark 2 is a major improvement over my 60D in capturing birds. I am very happy with its IQ and 10 frames per second is unreal. The only gripe I have so far is its poor LCD monitor. The pictures are soft and no where near as sharp as displayed on the 60D. When I load them into DPP 4, the raw are sharp and the JPEGs are soft and blurred. Tried different settings but none equal the 60D screen. I just can't delete anything until I see its clarity on the computer. Don't trust what is displayed on the LCD.

7D Mark II Shot Professionally
on July 16, 2015

I have no words for this camera body. Someone that has been shooting 1D bodies for years all I will say is it can pretty much shoot anything with the right lens on the camera. I shot over 4,000 images at a 2 day event a fashion runway event with only 9 out of focus shots. This hit rate was right on part with the 1D bodies. In addition, due to the drop factor the images were ready to go on the 1D you have to crop due to it being full frame. I have over 2,200 shots taken at ISO 12,800 to 16,000 with incredible detail and I have blown them up to 16x20 prints for clients.

First Week of Use

Using this new 7D Mark II with Canon Efs lens that is my favorite results in the "Err 01" freeze-up six times in first hour. Received camera from retailer on Friday, and began using it on Saturday.
Cleaning lens mount contacts, removing battery are recommended but after following directions for these tasks the error continues to occur. If IS is shut off on the 17-55 f/2.8 lens body it seems to help but on two other Canon bodies IS is always on without error. I never use tripod. Have been diligent at every step since unboxing this new camera. And I have carefully studied the avaiable databases and user forums hoping for a definitive report of why this may be occuring. Will continue to use but my confidence is shaken and I fear this body will have to be returned. Must decide to do return within 30 days of purchase because of this adverse recurring event that does not have an obvious discernable cause, and if I keep it and if it cannot be fixed then I will lose production; and the time is not refundable.

Fits the Bill!

I own 2 MDx bodies and use a 600mm lens for bird photography. For static shots I can attach my 2X extender for good results but for flight shots that combination doesn't work well due to difficulty in tracking the subject.
The 7D II is the perfect solution on the 600mm shooting at 10fps and a 1.6 crop factor.

Awesome camera

I am a semi-pro photographer that has been using Canon Cameras for about 4 years now. I started with the T3, then migrated to the T4i then after reading all the reviews, I purchased the 7D Mark II. I love this camera. the 7D Mark II is the reason I stick with crop sensor cameras. The color reproduction is remarkable. I do not do alot of post-processing and the 7D Mark II makes it easier to stay away from post processing. The menu is easy to navigate, the CF/SD card combination makes redundancy a breeze and the dual Digic 6 processors combined with the buffer, makes shooting moving wildlife easy. The lightning fast autofocus system is a feature envied by other manufacturers. The learning curve was low going from a T4i to the 7D Mark II. The camera weight makes hand-holding easy. I would highly recommend this camera for a first or back-up body.

Outstanding

I read a review in Popular Photography about the new 7D Mark II and it peaked my interest. As I read more reviews and comments online, it became apparent this was going to be my next camera. I shoot freelance sports photography for newspapers part time. I have owned other Canon C sensor cameras 20D,30D and 70D and like that feature of the 1.6x focal length. This camera is head and shoulders above the others. The new autofocus system is great. The expanded incremental ISO selections were awesome while shooting a recent MLS game at night. I am so glad I bought this camera and I see owning it for many years to come.

Great upgrade

Great upgrade from T3. Buy extra batteries as battery life is much shorter due to all the upgraded systems (faster frame rate, stabilization, fast focus system, etc.). I am very happy and look forward to 200,000 pics.
