I have always liked the idea of a car mount and have tried mounting them repeatedly, the catch, I don't want them on my windshield obstructing my view. This is by far the best option I have come across. Bonus, it keeps my phone cool in the summer while it is charging. We even bought a second one for my wife. Who has refused to have a hands free system in the past.

It's really good. The only issue is that it's kind of hard to get this stuff off. But I think it's due to my car's age is kind of old! The grid of my AC vent is separated narrowly.
BTW it's not a cute design so if this could potentially be an issue for you, please think more!

This product will still scratch/damage your vents, even though it advertises doing the opposite. Any slight bumps into the mount can send the device tumbling, as it gets detached from the vents. In hindsight, I would rather purchase the suction cup mount for my phone. The only pro to this product is it's conveniently located lower in the dash of my car

I needed a bracket to hold my cell phone but didn't want to spend a lot of money and I didn't want it stick on the windshield. So I got an air vent dock. It was flimsy at best and it wasn't strong enough to hold up my phone, it drooped. Best buy had a very poor selection of holders. There was cheap and expensive, nothing in between. I should have gone elsewhere.
