While this game is nothing ground-breaking in Mario Kart design, and follows the tried-and-true formula of past Mario Kart games, the addition of the Wii wheel functionality is quite fun, and adds much to the experience. It takes a little to get used to, but it works well. The online features are great as well.
What's great about it: Wheel, online, amount of tracks and characters
What's not so great: Graphics, "Same old Mario Kart"

Mario Cart is what was played 90% of the time on my N64, and about 50% of the time on my Gamecube. This Wii version will probably, get the same amount of play as my old N64 version. The wheel does add a nice "Wii" component to the game. But I was finding myself a bit annoyed at holding the wheel, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. My 9 and 5 year old seem to have already.
What's great about it: Excellent addition to the Mario Cart family
What's not so great: action of holding steering wheel can ve annoying

Great game for any Wii owner. Definitely a game that can be played by any age. I really liked how this game brought back some of the retro tracks for people who haven't played the other Mario Kart games. Plus, I love the addition of bikes. My only gripe (and its a small one) is that I noticed one or two of the "items" that you got while racing on the previous Kart games aren't on this edition of Mario Kart. Considering all of this, I highly highly highly recommend this game for purchase.

This is a 5 star kart racer. It does everything a kart racer should do. If you are trying to compare a 5 star racer to a 5 star rpg or shooter, this review isn't for you. Internet play is hobbled by Nintendo's WiFi friend codes, but to their credit this has kept parents from worrying so much about their children's online connections. Multiplayer split screen is really the same as it ever has been, but seems more clear and detailed than past versions. I haven't tried four way split screen yet, but I would expect the smaller display size would at least marginally diminish the experience.
What's great about it: fast and colorful gameplay, smooth and predictable input
What's not so great: powerups tend to favor the less skilled, producing gaming socialism

great game! it does take some time getting used to the wii wheel, but there are plenty of controller options to get around this by being able to use the classic controller, gamecube controller, etc. very addicting and a overall good buy.
What's great about it: everything you love about mario kart is here. my wife and i have been playing this game non-stop since we bought it.
What's not so great: takes some time getting used to the wheel.
