I watch a lot of cooking shows, so I've always wanted a stand mixer. I found this on sale and went ahead and purchased it. My first use was making bread. The attachments are easy to use and my bread came out perfect! I'm so happy with it. Now it's on to buy the pasta attachments!

Definite Must for the Baker with Limited Counter Space

My husband got this mixer for me as an early holiday gift. And probably to save my baking projects before my old handheld mixer gave up the ghost.
So far, am loving it. I had always wanted a stand mixer, but the problem I had was that I have very limited counterspace in my kitchen. And given how heavy these stands are, I needed something that wouldn't eat up whatever limited space I had but still be just as robust as the bigger stands on the market. And this totally fit the bill.
It's definitely much sleeker in appearance (and it occupied a space of about 10"x14" on my counter if that helps folks) , and while the bowl is 0.5 qt smaller than the standard mixer...it's not a big deal. I think with the bowl being tall, I didn't experience any spill over when I had to double/triple the batter in a recipe.
The motor's pretty strong (I had some really thick cookie dough I was making and it handle throught it just fine), and not sure if it's just me, it seems a little bit louder other mixer stands. But if that's not a deal breaker you, that's really the only con I can think of.
Like all stands, this model's pretty heavy, so be prepared to do some lifting if you plan to store this in some cabinet and only pull it out when you need to.
The attachments (the paddle and whisk) are made of metal, and I'd recommend handwashing them and the bowl if possible. I haven't put them in the dishwasher yet, but a friend of mine who has a similar model lamented her whisk attachment got rusted when she put it in the dishwasher. So hand washing it is until I can afford getting extras later on.
If you've never used such a stand, would totally suggest exploring the parts (ie, knowing how to remove the bowl, how to swap/detach the attachments, etc) before using the mixer for an actual recipe. It will definitely make baking a smoother process, especially if you're racing to get something in the oven quickly.
