I was shocked that this disc had no DD 5.1 Audio track. Since I have no DTS receiver, I couldn't use the transcoded bitstream and was forced to watch it in PCM 2.0 :(

Really amazing things happen in this storyline. They bring Gen. Jack O'Neill BIG, dramatic things happen to the SG-1 team. The story involves an alternate time-line, which is really cool. That way, when all the BIG, dramatic things occur that I mentioned earlier- it's not quite so upsetting. You know that whatever horrible things took place in this movie, you know that your favorite series isn't over because all of what you've just seen had taken place in another timeline. So, once they correct the timeline.... they UNDO all the horrible things that took place! How awesome is that!
What's great about it: They brought back some old faves in the storyline

I have watched Stargate SG-1 since the pilot, i own every episode. I have not been too excited about these movies though. The Ark of Truth was a conclustion to the Ori conflict. And this movie is a good conclusion for the go'uld conflict, even though we have had plenty of conclusions for the go'uld already. How many times can you kill a particular go'uld? And the story line is kind of old hat as far as alternate realities go. Kind of tired of the alternate reality thing always happening. But for the true SG-1 fan such as my self this is a must have. It is even better in blue ray.
What's great about it: A good addition to your Stargate SG-1 collection

The movie was ok, as much as a let down as 200 was, but at least it was ok. Blu-ray on a decent TV makes this thing look like utter and complete garbage. I returned it to the store to get the DVD because at least that doesn't look as bad. The lack of quality on the picture makes me ashamed to be a fan.
What's great about it: It's Stargate.
What's not so great: It was released without quality control.

I'd say if you're a stargate fan, you'll love this movie. Richard Dean Anderson is back and did an awesome job - makes you wish he had a larger part. Good conclusion for the Goua'ld storyline. I've seen better picture quality for blu-ray but it was still pretty good.
What's great about it: Good movie, throwback to the earlier seasons, No Ori, and Richard Dean Anderson
What's not so great: Somewhat repetitive storyline but I didn't mind that much

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the story. SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!: Baal uses a somewhat ingenius method (won't spoil it for you, but the method has been used before) to travel back in time and stop the Stargate on Earth from being delivered to America, so the SGC program never happens. While he does this, SG1 is attending the execution of the last Baal clone on the Tokra homeworld and Vala, Teal'c, and others start to disappear! Jack is killed, while Cam, Sam and Daniel go through the gate. (This is how they are protected from the altered timeline) They make it back where everything has changed, including their own existance. Fast-forward a year later and while they are becoming complacent in new lifes forced upon them by the USAF, the new "all powerful" Baal (along with a number of cameo appearances by old Goulds, long dead) gathers his fleet around Earth for an attack. Vala (Quetesh his queen) betrays him while Teal'c (his first prime) escapes with some Jaffa. Meanwhile Cam, Sam and Daniel make their way to Russia, where the Russians managed to recover one of the Stargates. Teal'c meets them there (Teal'c doesn't know them of course, but agrees to help them for the promise of Jaffa freedom) and they gate to Baal's "time machine" before Quetesh can get there. A battle ensues, Cam is the only one to make it back in time and stop Baal from carrying out his plan. The timeline has been restored, happy ending for the good guys!
I was somewhat disappointed with the only brief appearances of RDA in this pic! He was only in the beginning and the end for a short time. Basically, he doesn't actually join the adventure with the rest of them. It IS ONLY a "guest appearance". That being said, this is still a great Stargate flick! Better than "Ark of Truth" in my opinion! The special effects (for the budget they have) are top-notch as always! The concept for the story has been done before (traveling back in time to change something, making an alternate timeline, etc.), but it's still an original, interesting story! The special features are nice too: Commentary by the Director & writer, 2 "making of" featurettes, and a "Layman's giude to time travel" featurette (describing some different theories behind time travel & alternate realities) Some interesting stuff, actually. The quality itself was pretty good, but not the best I've seen. I'd still get it on Blu-ray since it's still better than DVD. (If you REALLY care about quality!)
If you're a Stargate fan, I'd definately recommend getting this one! I can't wait to see if they make any more Stargate movies!
What's great about it: HD quality instead of plain old SD DVD quality.
What's not so great: Not the best quality on a BR I've seen, but then I've only watched 4-5 BR's thus far!
