GE Chest freezer FCM11PHWW Energy Start 10.6 Cu Ft

I really like that this freezer that has a nice interior light when top is opened, a drain, if needed, on the bottom front, and a lock if one wishes to lock the freezer. It is a good size for a family of 3 during the covid-19 pandemic. We have an upright freezer, but I wanted this model because we live in a hurricane belt, and a chest freezer can be packed with ice and food will hold longer in a chest type. Now we will be better prepared when electricity goes out. We have only had it for a month, so haven't needed to defrost. It has worked beautifully thus far. We waited over 3 months to receive the order, but it was worth the wait, as it is not too large nor too small--just right!

I love the space and the baskets that come with the freezer that allows me to store frozen vegetables and breakfasts meats in them. I also like that my new freezer has a light in the door, for better visibility. Oh and the temperature control that I can set to keep the freezer from becoming too cold.

Freezer works great

While almost the same size as my old 14.6 Cu.Ft. Freezer, the high efficiency features makes it have a smaller capacity . I’m looking forward to energy use reduction of the 36 year old unit it replaced (10.6 Cu.Ft.)

GE freezer dropped

Upon removing packing container, it was determined the freezer was previously dropped. Overall freezer looked ok so installed and turned on. Still operating ok but concerned about long term effect.
