I bought these and after I put the first one in it was 2 weeks or so before it worked slightly. Terrible waste of $

I am so sorry that you were sent a cartridge that didn't work right away. I hope to get it to work well for you though!
There is a good possibility that it isn't the cartridge, but a clogged printhead that is at fault here. What makes that sound likely is that it took some time for the cartridge to work. The routine maintenance the printer runs can clear out the clogs in a printhead eventually.
We can test that out by cleaning the printhead. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that. Check the user guide, if you don't know how to start the cleaning.
If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. The printer should always be turned off using the power button on the printer itself. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the printhead is protected from excess drying. That can cause clogs to form in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.
