Hello Dean
I am sorry that the cartridges seem to dry up too fast. I can understand if you are disappointed.
The usage usually determines how long a cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will run the cartridge out faster.
Here are some things that might help you get savings: - Most people have found that the XL version of the cartridges are a much better value - Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out the ink - Turn off the printer between uses; however, always use the printer's power button to shut it off. That gives it time to get into a position that protects the cartridges from drying and helps keep the printhead from clogging up.

I have been using the same printer HP Photosmart 5520 printer I am please for the past five , six years. it does everything I need and what my family has needed as well, Copy, Scan. Print in color and just black and white. While the printer does a fantastic job i find for the money i pay to much for the ink cartridges' besides they don't seem to last very long.
