Inacurate focussuing!!!

I bought this camera as a backup. At first I loved the fast focussing! After looking at my images critically in post I realised there was something seriously wrong as most of my images were very soft and just not sharp at all! I started setting up various tests for the camera and all of them confirmed that there was a problem. I found that focussing using Live view was much better and I think that may be due to the duel pixel technology. Not sure.. Focussing using the viewfinder (as I always do and want to do) is not good! I tried micro focussing adjustments, different lenses and even taking the cam for a checkup which turned out useless. Apparently not all 70D's are affected by this problem but some of them defnitely are! I sold my 70D and bought a 5Dii. Much slower focussing, but accurate!!!

I wanted to upgrade from my T4i to a camera with a faster shutter speed. The 70D has increased shutter speed, a level you can set for both live view and view finder, on- top controls for metering, ISO etc, flip screen, added ISO choices, and more. I LOVED the camera....until I tried it with my 100mmL IS USM macro lens, 70-200mmL IS USM telephoto lens, and even my 24-105mmL IS USM lens. The macro lens back focuses, the telephoto lens front focuses (I know this because I sent photos to a tech at Canon who looked at them and told me the problem) and even the 24-105mm isn't clear all of the time. The incorrect focusing is random. I took the first 70D I got back to the store where the manager verified a focusing problem and gave me a new camera. Sadly, the second one has the same problems as the first (as confirmed by the photos I sent to the Canon tech) and also has a sticking issue with the multicontroller off and on. I now have to return this one. It may be the batch...I really don't know, but with everything else I loved about the camera, this is very disappointing and frustrating. (One other note,..the battery life seems to be shorter than that of the T4i.)
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my EOS 70D (most of the time)

I have had the EOS 70D camera for 3 years and it takes great pictures when the auto-focus works. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the focus is off sometimes. Most days almost every picture is sharp, some amaze me they are so good but once in a great while about half are not. I would not recommend this camera to a pro or someone who needs consistency.

BEWARE ADWARE, HOW DARE?

I downloaded EOS MOVIE Utility 1.2 for Windows from URL: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_70d#DriversAndSoftware . One day later my internet experience was ruined by an INVASIVE MALWARE ADD-ON, "Ads by Mini," that is secretly attached to the aforementioned software.
Very disappointed,
