Love It!

This is my first DSLR camera and I love it. when purchasing I have reviewed several cameras and got feedback from a lot of photographers. some of the features that the 70D has are great selling points for me. example, the Wi-Fi shooting and being able to take a picture and within a few minutes send it to my phone and post it on social media. this feature has also saved me from having to buy a remote shutter release because I can make changes and take control of the camera from the free app.
the size and build of the camera are solid and perfect size for my hand. I purchased the camera to shoot photos underwater and have also purchased the housing required. Takes great photos and doubles as my walking around camera because of the high quality and ease of use. I have purchased several canon lenses now and they are all excellent quality. Great combination Canon glass with Canon camera.
I am still learning to use the camera but I get better every day, love the file size of the raw format and touch screen for moving around and checking to ensure you got the shot. I will be a long time customer of Canon and I am now looking to purchase a full framed camera now that I know what I am doing.

I have been a Canon user for quite some time and I recently made this purchase to upgrade my previous camera and I must say that the 70D is incredible. For the amount of money, build quality and image quality. This camera is extremely good value!

Rough Start

I had been looking at this camera for some time and finally made the purcahse. I took it to a graduation and got some great shots. I was unable to off load the pictures. This was my 3rd Canon and thought I knew how to operate. Called service and support and they were great. There was an issue with the camera and it was not operator error. They offerred to have it shipped for repair. Since it was only 2 days old I elected to return to the store and get a new one. No issues since and love the replacement.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Bright LCD
Cons: Poor build quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Why Canon?

I decided to get back into film but there was so many choices to choose from. I chose Canon. Canon offered the best in overall quality and price point. Afterall all, today's technology you really can't go wrong. I felt Canon just does it right! The EOS 70D far exceeds what I expected in a DSLR! The resolution of all my data is pro quality. I see why this is a Canon?!

40D upgrade to 70D
on August 31, 2013

Significantly improved image quality, great performance in low ISO conditions, much improved viewfinder are highlights for stills shooting. Colors and grain are very nice, even at dusk and ISO 1600, which would have been useable only as thumbnail in the 40D.
Touch screen improves setting many things and image preview pinch zoom/swipe. The rotating screen means no more balancing the camera with a lens on a table, or holding with one hand while turning the dial or joystick with another. Much more convenient.
Feel is a bit different from the 40D metal body, but after a few minutes seems just as solid. Shutter noise is a bit different.
I miss the joystick on the 40D - will take time to get used to the multi-controller for setting focus points.
Fast shooting/saving to a UHS-1 SD card. Same as or better than any fast SD card I had for the 40D.
Just barely started using video for the first time - and very approachable, good quality on the good setting with no i frames and nice focus.
Also easy to set up and migrate from a 40D - most of the controls/functions are the same, if in new places.
So overall an excellent upgrade!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use, rotating/touch lcd
Cons: multicontroller different from joystick

Fantastic camera

At this point, I really could not be more pleased. This is one fantastic piece of equipment. Everything works exactly as it's supposed to & the learning curve is not at all steep. While I haven't had the opportunity to put it through it's paces (so to speak) I have no doubt what so ever that it will perform as well as, or better, than expected. I love it.
