For sure, one of best DSLRs on the market. Image quality outstanding. Packed with a lot of features. Easy to use, but with plenty of customizations.
Touch screen, WiFi and vari-angle display are all very useful.
Only missing, in my opinion at least: a second slot for SD card (either for backup or overflow) and the lack of a built-in intervalometer (this is definitely a request for next firmware upgrade).

Touch Screen issues

Touch screen quit functioning in Manual and AV modes 13 months after purchase so just out of warranty. Cleared all the camera settings, pulled the battery for 2 hours in case it was something I did and not the camera. Still does not work. Hoping my Nikkon camera friends were wrong about the quality of current Canon cameras.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Coming from a great camera the Canon T2i i wanted to up grade and wait on the Canon 7Dmrk2 but 2014 wasn't realistic for me . However when i read the incredible stats of the 70D I had to have this camera it's low light performance is underrated and the built quality is just what i need for my level of photography . I don't have much use for the flip out screen but its great to have the option. I use my 70D mainly for photography and when it comes to video i'll be more then ready . CANON is still a front runner in the field of modern photography and the 70D represents a high standard .
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Lightweight/Portable, it's nice to have gps if needed.
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, i could live without a headphone jack.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm using mainly this camera for my video works. Thats just one word its Awesome on it. I have these two Camera bodies. But the downside is Every images taken in this camera it shift the focus. its not focusing the right point it shows in viewfinder. but in Live view shoot, there is no problem. its a factory fault.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Solid Operation
Cons: slow image review on touch screen, focusing issue on viewfinder shoot still images
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had my 70D for two years and am SO happy with the purchase! The camera has been to Hawaii, London and various U.S. cities and I'm very satisfied with the results. The quick response and focusing allows you to get shots you weren't able to in the past. The video feature is a delight. I'm still learning that aspect of the camera but it's fun! This was a definite step up from the 40D, one I do not regret.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Camera locks up and freezes.

The 70d is a problem camera. Mine has locked up several times and win not reset correctly. Reviews show that the 70d has BIG problems which caused so many problems for photographers. I switched over from Sony Alpha and spend thousands on canon gear and several lens. Big big BIG mistake thinking canon was going to be more of a reliable camera. I recommend Sony or Nikon, they last as long as you do. Read all the Google reviews, to many complaints and problems with Canon cameras

Jack of all trades and a master of many

Last week I lost one of my 1Dmk2's to a shutter failure. 70k shots and It was time . So that was all the excuse I needed to get a new body. I was looking at the 7Dmk2 and the 70D . I have owned 2 10Ds a 40D and two 1Dmk2's .
Crop has some drawbacks but it that 1.6 boost is welcome with sports I shoot . I had my doubts coming from the Older yet flagship 1D's Lets just say they were laid to rest very quickly with a day of use .
SD cards are not as tough as CF however this things inboard WiFI makes removing the card a rare occasion ( video ) . I just use the provided EOS utility to ingest the pics I want in to my HDD no wear and tear on plugs or slots !!
the new twin pixel AF is smoking hot!
I have a older Canon XHA1S as my main video rig .. the AF on the 70D so far with a 24-105 F4 L IS USM is as fast as that * real * camcorder .
Simply put canon In my book has made DLSRs a very real replacement for video cams . No longer are they looked at as just a cine tool to be used with a focus puller and a film crew .
Batt life is par for the body size . video is gonna eat batts so trust me get more batts.
The menus touch interface is very well done .Fluid and it makes the cam a joy to use.
As a side note you can use from what I can tell , every menu with the touch part on OFF and use the dials . Great for gloves!!!!!! thank you canon for the foresight!
All in all a very nice step up in the canon xxD series .
My only gripe is one of a personal one...
Crop means I need some new glass to get my wide angles back ...... So is life .
