Hard to Open - Vacuum too intense

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This upright freezer is so hard to open I have to brace myself to open the door - and still the unit shifts its location. I realize this is Energy Star rated, but it shouldn't be this difficult. I am thinking of returning it. I also needed to buy extra shelves because there was too much wasted space between the shelves. On the plus side, the freezer works.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Beartowngreg, thank you for your review. The door seal is new and working correctly. The pressure difference between the warmth of your kitchen and the cold inside your refrigerator can cause a vacuum. This may cause your door to become difficult to open. It is usually only after the door has been closed a while that it will be hard to open. You can try placing your finger around the edge of the door and shift the seal slightly; this will release the vacuum and let the door open normally. Have had the freezer for almost a month and love it. Lots of room on the door, shelves are high enough to store large items, the light is real bright.

Big space for planning ahead!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love to cook but it's only my husband and me now. I also love participating in the potlucks and get togethers of my active senior community. My new feeezer is the perfect place to store those casseroles I make ahead. When we go shopping so many proteins are in larger packages than we will need immediately, so my freezer holds the extras. At the holidays I bake cookies ahead and freeze them before sharing at parties and in gift baskets. Even though my freezer is in the garage it is my most appreciated appliance.
