They were approx. the same size but I was able to accommodate all that I had in the old one and had a lot of room left over for more. The brightly lit inside of this new one shows me where everything is.

Didn't last a year

At less than a year old, the freezer stopped working while we were away for several weeks. The rancid mess was everywhere and we are still trying to get the smell out of the house. Then it took another 2 weeks to get someone out to "confirm" that it really wasn't working.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Yikes, JoeVA! I apologize this happened to you and your family. To remove any leftover smell try adding half a cup of vinegar to a quart of water and allow to simmer on the stove for a few minutes. Great Freezer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this about a month ago to replace a 42 year old Montgomery Ward freezer that was on its last leg. This is a large freezer and we need to work harder to fill it up, but it's nice to have the extra capacity than our old unit. We like all the shelves and door storage and the LED lighting makes it super easy to find whatever we're looking for. One of the problems we had with our old freezer was that the door would open sometimes and cause the contents to defrost. The new freezer door has a very strong magnetic seal and can occasionally be difficult to open but we're not complaining. My wife wasn't crazy about getting a frost-free freezer but I'm certain she'll change her mind since she won't have to defrost anymore!
