Ok so rock band 1 rocked, even though it wasn't as challenging as guitar hero 3, the music was better, and more modern. Rock band 2 doesn't do much to the original, with the exception of a built-in lag calibrator, new songs, and an improved, less flimsy and quieter guitar. You will be able to use all of your DLC from RB1 so that's good...the first one rocked and the only thing that they did to it was improve its flaws so this one is gonna be awesome too.
My only concern is that now it has competition from GH: world tour maybe it won't be the best music game...but I doubt it.
What's great about it: Improved guitar, same gameplay style, DLC compatibility
What's not so great: Expensive, drum sets (at least in the first) are hella flimsy

BUY ths game. With new challenge modes battle of bands and drum trainers there is enough entertainment alone in the game to last you for a year.
The setlist just keeps getting bigger as it nears 300 and is promising 500 + by the end of the year. On the back of your game manual is the code for 20 free dlc songs that are not yet announced but will be at a later date.
What's great about it: new updated system
What's not so great: world tour still lacking, instruments still not up to par with gh

Rock Band 2 is a nearly perfect version of Rock Band 1, especially considering that all of the tracks (less 3) can be trasnfered to the sequel. The game is equally as enjoyable, if not more so, than the original. Plus, there are now drum solos! Everything about the game has been improved, only some parts have been improved more so than others. The only reason to not buy this game right now is if you want to have the Special Edition pack that is released in October, so you can have new drums and guitar.
What's great about it: All problems with Rock Band 1 fixed, guitar and bass made more difficult, "No Fail" mode added, excellent track list
What's not so great: Very little updated in World Tour mode, no update in graphics, very little updated in customization

This game is an absolute blast. The songs seem to be getting better and better, and the solo tour mode has vastly approved. It's a great game that you and your friends will have a ton of fun playing.
What's great about it: It's unbelievably fun and addicting

I really can't describe this game. It's just too much fun not to play.
Music Quality: 84 songs right off the bat and almost all of them are simply amazing. Add the fact you can export almost all of the Rock Band 1 songs to Rock Band 2 and all of the downloaded songs from the Live Marketplace (or PS Network for the PS3) are immediately playable and you have a massive music library from the word go.
Difficulty: Ranges from Easy to almost the real thing. It depends on the song and the difficulty you choose.
Graphics: Nothing to write home about, but since this is a "Music and Rhythm" game graphics aren't a priority. Not to say they look bad though and the animations are some of the best I've seen in a while.
Fun: If you play Rock Band 2 and say you didn't have fun, there's something wrong with you. Honestly.
It's nice to see that the genre of rock is alive and well, and now you can live your music fantasy.
What's great about it: Excellent selection of music

I picked up RB 2 yesterday and I love it as much as I did Rock Band. It's pretty fun and I like how you are able to carry over the DLC and Rock Band's song list to Rock Band 2 so it's even a gigantic library of music to play with on Rock Band 2. This game is good for small gatherings with your friends or big parties! It never ceases to stop being fun, also, you'll get a free code on the back of your Rock Band 2 manual which will get you twenty free songs when Rock Band 2 releases their DLC! This game is a keeper, and is overall fun, for yourself or all your friends.
What's great about it: More Songs, Equipment Improvement, Mass DLC Library, Able to Carry over RB DLC and The complete Songlist from RB

I love this game. I like it much better than Rock Band. I use the old instruments and they work fine. The song list is better, you can do a tour by yourself, the battle of the bands and challenges are a great addition and most importantly forming a band with other people online makes the experience all the better!!
