Does a good job of giving information to bring everything from the earlier movies together. As always the torture devices and ideas is what makes the movie what it is.
What's great about it: Good background info to start bringing everything together.

This is my least favorite of the series but it wraps up the story, or does it? Have we seen the last of the Jigsaw killer? If they do come out with 6 it's got to be better. The bluray is marketed as a special 2-disc unrated directors cut but the second disc is just the digital copy, no extra content on the second disc but you can have a standard def version for your iPod and computer. The special features are inside looks at the traps and some behind the scenes stuff including MoLog(same as on Saw IV).
What's great about it: Good amount of gore, mostly fills in a few blanks from the past
What's not so great: Not the best of the set but it's got a few twists and turns.

This is by far the weakest of the saw films. While it does have the gore, traps, puzzles, and twists it is by far superior to it's predecessors. However, that does not mean that it isn't enjoyable.
It does tie in many things from previous movies but however presents many questions that of course will be answered (hopefully) in Saw VI. At times I found this to be annoying because they're starting to drag this franchise through the mud.
If you have been a fan of the franchise and started to lose interest after you watched Saw 4 (or 3), chances are this movie won't win you back over. If anything it'll leave a more sour taste in your mouth.
I would consider myself a diehard fan and for the most part I was considered let down by this film. Especially after the overhyped "You won't believe how it ends!" tag-line. In theory, one might argue that this is correct because I couldn't believe how it ended. I was shocked in the fact that the ending was by far the easiest to predict and the "twist" was by far the worst of the series.
If your patience has run out for this franchise, save yourself the money and skip on Saw V.
If your a die hard fan add it to your collection (as I probably will when the price goes down) but don't expect to be blown away.
What's great about it: It's Saw, New Traps, New Games
What's not so great: Answers as many questions that it presents, Weakest of the Saw films, Overhyped Ending

The is a perfect end to the franchise, if they would end it on this film. It tied up all loose ends from previous films. The acting was a bit blocky, but in this series, that's nothing new. there were no extras aside from trailers, but mine was a rental so that might be different if you buy it. All in all, I would buy this film.

THIS MOVIE WAS THE SAME OLD GORY SAW WITH JUST A LITTLE TOO MUCH JUMPING FROM ONE SCENE TO THE OTHER-THE SAW EFFECTS WERE STILL GREAT THOUGH-I LOVED THE DEATHS BUT IT HAD TOO MUCH TRYING TO FIGURE STUFF OUT-I JUST ENJOY A MOVIE WITHOUT AN OVERDOSE OF MYSTERY-IT'S WORTH WATCHING ALL THE GORE-DON'T TRY AN UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING GOING DOWN BECAUSE YOU WILL STRESS YOURSELF OUT-IF YOU DON'T TRY AND UNDERSTAND IT AND YOU MISS A PART YOU WILL BE CONFUSED SO WATCH IT ALL BUT DON'T STRESS ABOUT IT-

Saw V continues the story of Jigsaw and you find out more of the backstory. You even find out how Jigsaw gets his replacement. What is a bit on the confusing side is the true motivation for those who take up the Jigsaw mantle. There is also a lot that makes you really wonder about the plausibility of many of the traps that are created. For those who are queasy, this movie is not for you. Those who are fans of the series will be ok with it, but I still wonder if they will be truly satisfied with this latest installment.

Darren Lynn Bousman has been replaced by David Hackl as director-minor flaw. Jigsaw's apprentice is continuing his work, along with wrapping things up from previous parts, even though this isn't 'the end' . For those who made it this far in the series, Det. Hoffman is NO Jigsaw, but he does an okay replacement. Personally, I wish Darren Bousmann could've directed two thru six, but David Hackl and Kevin Greutert do a nice job as directors, I do hope Darren and Leigh return for parts 7 and possibly eight. This series, so far makes SCREAM look tame though, although obviously it's been more successful thus far.
What's great about it: same as the other four
What's not so great: why couldn't Darren and Leigh return?
