Great noise canceling but there are design flaws
on September 8, 2015

These earphones receive 5 stars for noise canceling, but there are two things which receive 1 star.
First, the design is flawed. The battery is bulky and difficult to manage when the earphones are connected to another device, i.e., iPhone, iPad, or Macbook. The battery location becomes especially unpractical if you want to move around while the earphones are connected to another device. The shape and location of the battery part (which also includes a motherboard) have to be reimagined. Since the battery and the motherboard are lightweight, it would be ideal to redesign the battery and the motherboard and to combine them with the controls and the mic.
The second thing is that there is also a problem with how the two green lights on the battery are used. These lights are always on when you use the noise-canceling feature. First, these lights are quite strong. I would have preferred a softer light. Secondly, I would have wanted the noise-canceling light to turn on when the "Aware mode" is off, not the other way around, and the battery light to flash every 5 seconds or so to indicate that the battery is low.

Flyer Friendly

I've had mine for about a month. First was flying coast to coast with a crying baby. You don't have to turn the music up load. The noise cancellation works great. In a hotel with noisy maids, turn these on with a little relaxing music, and relax. I've even used them without music to take an afternoon nap. More comfortable than earplugs.

Two words: Buy Them!

These are absolutely state of the art. I have traveled all over the world with them. They are, bar none, the best in ear, noise cancelling ear phones I have ever used. The comments about these being too expensive just don't take into account how truly outstanding this product is. Very few items live up to the hype. These do.

Best Ever

I bought these on a whim from a kiosk at the airport. I own the on ear - and over ear noise canceling headphones - been through several over the last 10 years. My expectation for the QC20 was low - very low.. I was wrong - these in ear noise canceling buds blew me away. If you are looking for quiet - you cannot go wrong.
Put them on the head of my 25 year old son.. and he said "wow - better than expected."
His ears are 25 years younger than mine. Completely satisfied

Well done!

At first I thought the idea of noise cancelling ear buds was unnecessary because the earbuds themselves would block out enough of the ambient noise. And I thought the battery/noise cancelling module might be a deal breaker. I mean, who wants a small box dangling in between the device and earbuds? Well, after hearing how much noise Bose is able to cancel out I quickly discovered that the idea of noise cancelling earbuds wasn't so crazy after all. The amount of noise these earbuds cancels out in amazing! listening to music in a car allows me to hear all the music and none of the noise from tires, the road, engine etc. These earbuds would be perfect for people who commute to work on a bus or fly a often.
The earbuds are very comfortable and fit very well. Even after long periods of time. The volume is plenty loud enough and the music sounds very full and balanced with plenty of rich bass. Just the way I like it!
After a short while of using the Quiet comfort 20's I figured out that I can tuck the battery module between my palm and iPhone when taking calls or changing songs and I barely notice it's there. I also just tuck the module and my phone in my back pocket when walking and it's not a problem like I thought it might be. I watch a lot of movies on my iPad and these are quickly becoming my favorite for movies or music even over my beats studio wireless headphones.
Very happy to have a set of these Quiet comfort 20's and highly recommend them to anyone to which music quality and comfort is important.

As good as the QC25!

As a member of the test&review program, I had a chance to use a pair of QC20 for almost a week and here are some notes for those who're thinking about spending $300+ on a set of noise-cancelling headphones.
First of all, I find it funny that Bose did not want me to compare the QC20 against competitors. The sad reality is that in real world the biggest competitor is not made by company owned by Apple and which name also starts with a "B". The main and the only competitor is Bose's superb QC25.
Unarguably, as an engineering achievement the QC20 is a mind-blowing product and kudos to those who managed to squeeze so much technology in such a tiny size.
But instead of talking about everything that normal people/users don't really care, in my short review I'd like to focus on the most important aspects: Comfort and Sound quality/noise cancellation capabilities.
Comfort.
While the QC20 are extremely comfortable, despite all Bose's efforts, they could not make this in-ear model as comfortable as over the ear models.
Sound quality/noise cancelling.
Sound quality is pretty impressive. In fact, 8 out of 10 people who listened to the set, said it sounded, "EPIC!" But as someone who owns 11 pairs of headphones, I agree with those who say that for $300 one can expect a more sophisticated sound. On the other hand, the truth is that Bose offers a different listening experience (and this goes for both the QC25 and QC20). Frankly, 90% of the time, I don't mind sacrificing a fraction of the clarity for the chance to distance myself from the world and be able to enjoy music or just gain some peace and quietness. And the QC20 cancel out the noise just as good as its younger brother [the QC25].
I can go on and on, telling specifically what I do or don't like about this model. But at the of the day, we need to be honest with ourselves - there is simply nothing else on the market that can offer great sound with such advanced noise cancelling technologies in such a small package.
Do yourself a favor and give the QC series a shot. Chances are you won't be disappointed!

Good noise cancelling BUT not durable at all!!

I loved the earbuds while they lasted. But Bose got the cabling on this one completely wrong - Bought a pair in late 2014 and since beginning of the year I started experiencing cable problems. The Bose 'insignia' on both earbuds also fell off. Not to mention that the battery started peeling away and the controls completely stopped functioning. Now have to shop for new earphones. Concededly, the QC20 are unmatched as far as noise cancelling is concerned BUT, considering the price, I would hesitate in recommending them if you are looking to buy something that will serve you for more than a year.

Best headphones ever don't put them though washer

Had them two years, there definitely worth it. They have very good audio but they don't compare to very high-end custom earbuds. However the sound cancelation is second to none. As long as u don't put them though the wash machine or take them in a monsoon there extremely durable. I also have a pair of QC 35 II but these are better for most things. Especially the bass
