Great product but poor construction - disappointed

Love the headphone and use them constantly but the construction of the product is poor to say the least. After several months the plastic casing comes off the battery pack and the wire connectors going in and out of the battery. Several months later the wires become exposed.

The headphones are superb in terms of noise canceling noise and sound depth, the amount of bass it provide is unbelievable. My only issue with it is when I use it in transportation and the windows are opened and also when closing the bus's door, i get a feeling that my ears are going to explode because of the pressure. So i have to deactivate the cancelation till I insure that the environment is securely locked. Other than this issue I definitly recommend them.
I've had three over the ear Bose headphones before, but I didn't enjoy carrying them around when traveling. The QC 20 are perfect in terms of size, and even though the noise cancelling isn't as good as the over the ear models, the size more than makes up for the shortcoming. However, the headphone jack is of very low quality. Mine fell apart at the jack, in multiple places, exposing the multiple wires (2 red, 2 green, 1 white, and strands of unshielded coper) and the reinforcement threads. This renders the earphones essentially useless.

Thank you for reaching out to us for help. Many of our customers prefer the smaller size of the QC20 headphones over the larger around ear style and we're happy that works well for you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before having this I used QC25 which is also great. But QC20 provides even better noise cancelling and convenience for carrying around. Further the internal battery is great feature as I kind of get tired of replacing battery around. Like other Bose products, the design is made for real comfort indeed. Regarding the sound, impeccable. After changing earphone quite frequently, I think this is the one that I would definite stop at and keep using because it never get me tired or bordered. Perfect if I have to choose a word to conclude.
Finally! A pair of earphones that stay in my ears and have great sound, oh, and not to mention they are extremely comfortable for long hours. When working out, cleaning, working or simply relaxing I don’t have to constantly adjust them; no ear aches either.
The noise cancellation is very good with extremely good battery life! I went for a few runs outside during prime traffic hours (don’t worry the sidewalk and highway are separated by trees, so I don’t have to be on high alert.). Five minutes into my run I turned on noise cancellation and was amazed how the busy world around me came to an abrupt end. Noise cancellation really focuses you into whatever task you’re doing. It’s just you, your music and your task. I even enjoyed noise cancellation without the music, despite the slight hiss you hear when music isn’t playing. Noise cancellation is so enjoyable I now can’t go to work without these earphones. Sometimes at work I sit right next to a portable A/C unit so all day I hear constant blowing. I never realized I heard that blowing until I shut on noise cancellation and voila, it was gone.
Now everything isn’t perfect with these earphones. My only complaint is the battery unit. It tends to get in the way. Especially, when taking your phone in and out of your pocket. My fear is that with time the battery and cord will develop a shortage from the constant pulling and bending you take it through. Also, when I put my phone into my workout sleeve I have to take an extra few minutes to organize my phone and battery into the sleeve. This gives me the impression that Bose didn’t design these earphones for a lot of moving activity. You may want to consider an alternative if you’re really active and sweat a lot. If you don’t mind the being a little careful then you should be ok.
Overall, I highly recommend these earphones. I don’t find them to be overhyped even with the steep pricing point. You definitely get what you pay for!
P.S. Just as I was about to hit 'enter' and then my earphones started to have shortage.
I bought the QC20 3 months ago so I could enjoy music on my airline flights and not be bothered by a chatty seat mate (yes I am one of those). As my title states it is like sitting in a vacuum when you engage the noise cancelling. The sound quality is excellent and I am hearing background notes I never even know were in the songs that I have listened to for 40+ years. I also own a pair of regular BOSE ear buds and the QC20's are a major improvement in sound quality, probably because of the noise cancelling feature (both are excellent choices).
Only issue I have had with them and it is not and issue with BOSE is that on a recent overseas flight I had the voices of two passengers penetrate the noise cancelling frequency and kept me up all night on an overnight flight. It didn't stop me from using them on the return flight and won't in the future, was probably a less than 1% occurrence..
