These ear phones are superb although the volume control no longer works with my iPhone!
The price means you look after this bit of kit more carefully than cheaper brands so pretty disappointed

I cannot hear a thing on the plane with these. yes, they are costly but you get what you pay for. They are not HUGE, massive headphones that go over your head. They are small and yet OVERLY powerful. I highly recommend. Bose has great quality and these do not disappoint. Again, you get what you pay for !!

Humming noise

Fly in peace

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my QC20 earphones over 6 years ago to drown out the noise of the office and for air travel. Flying from Australia to the US every year and back, they are such a pleasure. You don't hear the jet engines, babies crying and loud passengers. It's a 14 hour flight between countries and the batteries consistently last the full distance. Every day I go to a cafe for coffee and with the QC20 you don't hear people talking or the making of coffee. The biggest hearing protection is that you don't have to turn up the volume to overcome the background noise. One commenter on this site complained of poor quality construction. I don't know how they looked after theirs but mine look almost new. When the batteries eventually give in I will most definitely by another set.

Love them, but....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are great-fitting and great noise-cancelling phones if you travel by car, rail or plane.
Sound is “ok” only. Battery lasts very long without recharge which i think is super important if you travel often, and especially if for business.
The rubber of the “battery” case peeled of quickly, which i fixed easily with some black tape.
True big downside is that there is apparently no option to repair them. My cable broke, but while the rest is fine including the battery, Bose Europe does not repair them, which is against my conception of sustainability.
Admittedly, i have used them a lot, and handled with little care, that is why I still gave 5stars.
Bose suggested that i buy a new pair, but for that to happen, i am now waiting for a newer version of this earphone, with better sound and maybe some more repair options and/or wireless (but same run time )
Suggestion: The earphone could come with a cable to a battery case, but the case would also be a bluetooth receiver, making them not truly “wireless” but “unplugged”. And please, no horrible “necklace”

Short Lived (17 Months) and Pricey

I've owned my Bose QC earphones since May 2014. Before I bought them I shopped around and felt I'd rather spend the extra money to insure the best possible experience. I know something about sound because I'm a mild audiophile and I've done talk radio magazines and news.
Although I've felt like I had to take special care of my QC earbuds because they're small and I'm big (I didn't see them as having a robust build) I'd been very happy with them. It's because they're small that they were especially portable, and fit safely in my laptop case or shirt pocket. So they aren't a bulky storage fit like full-sized studio headphones. An unanticipated plus was that they turned out to be helpful and excellent on business calls on my iPhone, because the sound quality of the calls was more intelligible and more pleasant.
I originally bought them to preserve my sanity against the noise of commercial airline flights. They were surprisingly helpful for that and I was glad I got them. Despite the background noise, I could listen to movies at a reasonable sound level on my iPad or PC laptop. That increased my happiness and made me a calmer traveler :-) One Spring Chicago night I even strolled around the downtown loop area; had I not had them the environmental sound levels would have been very upsetting.
I thank Bose for these things. I had come to depend upon these earbuds. Just like my ancient Bose Wave Radio/CD player that serves its beautiful sound as my PC's speakers, day-in, day-out, for many years.
I listen to audiobooks and guided meditations. I have taken good care of my earbuds. I'm not a skateboarding thrasher ;-) But, last night when I queued up a meditation for private listening, the right earbud was inexplicably silent. Zero sound. There's no damage either earbud, and not even a frayed, twisted, or detached cord. Each and every time I wasn't using them, these were tucked carefully and safely into their case. The earbuds and cords look good enough that they might even pass for new. And if I'd done something unexpected to the sound controller, from long experience with electronics, I'd surmise both earbuds would have broken. But the left one works.
So, now that I've come to depend on a product like these, I'm not inclined to dive right back into another pair. So I must shop around again. Sigh.

Yes! These block out snoring!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had these for about two months and these have maybe saved my relationship. They've definitely saved my sanity. I was at wit's end with my partner's snoring. We'd tried a bunch of stuff to get him to stop snoring and they weren't working. There were times I'd fantasize about smothering him with a pillow (sleep deprivation is no joke!). I decided to try these out, sure they wouldn't make a difference, but confident in the 30 day trial period. I can still hear the snoring if I really strain to, but why would I do that? The noise just goes quietly into the background and I naturally don't focus on it.
On a recent hot night, we had the box fan in the window on full blast. It was pretty loud. White noise, but pretty loud. I turned on my headphones and was shocked that the fan noise totally disappeared.
I don't use these outside of bed. The battery pack seems a little bulky and I already had regular headphones that I like (and are cheaper and I'm not in fear of breaking), so I don't really have a commentary on how the sound is on these (I only listen to podcasts or nature sounds). You also can't sleep on your side with these on (back sleeping only). And the light on the battery pack is kinda bright for nighttime. All these things aside, I still am in total love with these headphones.

I just love them. Easy to carry around, can wear them while sleeping in planes. Now I almost don't use my Q25 headphones anymore.
