Nice headset

I received these headphones over a week ago I love the look of them and the noise canceling feature really works. My issue is how muffled your voice is when you talk with the headphones in your ears your ears feel clogged up I did not like that. sound quality was great which is what bose is good for. I did like the headphones but if not for the muffled sound I would have given 5 stars

Good, but not for everyone

whoever buy this earphone needs to try noise cancelling first. this earphone is a 5 star product for me but it is not for everyone. the noise cancelling produces a "dark" sound that bothers most people, some people even get sea-sick with just putting these on. at the beginning i find the dark noise bothering, and i did feel very much uncomfortable, but after a while i got used to it, i still feel it now, but the more i use it, the less im bothered by the dark noise. it cancels mechanical noises really well, but it does not cancel human voices.

As good as the QC25!

As a member of the test&review program, I had a chance to use a pair of QC20 for almost a week and here are some notes for those who're thinking about spending $300+ on a set of noise-cancelling headphones.
First of all, I find it funny that Bose did not want me to compare the QC20 against competitors. The sad reality is that in real world the biggest competitor is not made by company owned by Apple and which name also starts with a "B". The main and the only competitor is Bose's superb QC25.
Unarguably, as an engineering achievement the QC20 is a mind-blowing product and kudos to those who managed to squeeze so much technology in such a tiny size.
But instead of talking about everything that normal people/users don't really care, in my short review I'd like to focus on the most important aspects: Comfort and Sound quality/noise cancellation capabilities.

Comfort.
While the QC20 are extremely comfortable, despite all Bose's efforts, they could not make this in-ear model as comfortable as over the ear models.

Sound quality/noise cancelling.
Sound quality is pretty impressive. In fact, 8 out of 10 people who listened to the set, said it sounded, "EPIC!" But as someone who owns 11 pairs of headphones, I agree with those who say that for $300 one can expect a more sophisticated sound. On the other hand, the truth is that Bose offers a different listening experience (and this goes for both the QC25 and QC20). Frankly, 90% of the time, I don't mind sacrificing a fraction of the clarity for the chance to distance myself from the world and be able to enjoy music or just gain some peace and quietness. And the QC20 cancel out the noise just as good as its younger brother [the QC25].

I can go on and on, telling specifically what I do or don't like about this model. But at the of the day, we need to be honest with ourselves - there is simply nothing else on the market that can offer great sound with such advanced noise cancelling technologies in such a small package.
Do yourself a favor and give the QC series a shot. Chances are you won't be disappointed!

I am using my headphones exactly as indicated in the instructions. I can still hear everything around me perfectly fine. What is the point of these headphones, then? I might as well be using a cheap pair of headphones.

The noise-canceling of the QC20 headphones works best at canceling constant noises such as those products by an airplane engine while traveling, or background noise in an office. However, some noises such as voices will still come through the headphones. One thing to make sure of is that aware mode is turned off, as aware mode allows some external sound into the speakers so that you can hear your surroundings.

Small Wonder

I am a proud owner of the QC15. Had to replace it twice in the past few years; it was just one of those things, hah. I wanted to try these to see if the awesomeness of QC15 could be fit into something so much smaller. Today is my first day with the QC20 and I have to admit that I'm seriously considering pawning my QC15 on Facebook already. I've had the SoundSport models; they were the first in-ear headphones that made sense to me and didn't have me banging my frustrated head. The best part of QC20 is the ability to use it without batteries. It's basically a better sounding version of SoundSport. I am rocking them at work with no noise-cancellation on and it still sounds spectacular. I have yet to test out the battery life and see how it compares to the QC15, but I feel optimistic!

QuietComfort 20 Another Homerun from Bose!

I received a pair if noise cancelling in ear headphones a week ago and have been using them in a variety of situations. During phone calls I appreciate the ability to hear conversations clearly without surrounding noise interference. This also holds true during my visits to the gym. Whether I am using equipment or just walking/jogging the track, I can focus on my workout and not be distracted by the music issuing from their speakers or the ever-present dropping of weight equipment that can be jarring to say the least. Most importantly, however, is the clarity of my music. I admit that I was unsure if these in ear headphones would prove to be as effective as my Bose surround ear quiet comfort headphones. Thus far, I am quite satisfied. My ultimate test will be on my next airplane trip. That is when noise cancelling, for me, is paramount.
I just have a few design comments. First, the battery pack/noise cancelling component is awkward when exercising. A clip of some sort would assist in preventing movement while I am "in motion". Additionally, I often just access the noise cancelling feature when traveling without attaching to any device. Thus a means to detach the device connecting cable similar to my surround ear Bose headphones, would be beneficial.
Nevertheless, I will continue to use these earphones and am grateful to Bose's commitment to quality of design and function.

I've had many sets of either earbuds AND headphones but NOTHING came close to these!! Having several Bose items I really shouldn't have beed surprised but I was BLOWN AWAY by these! I actually didn't use my S4 for music other than with Pandora and my soundtouch. I plugged these in, went to Pandora and OMG! The sound was INCREDIBLE! And the "noise cancelling" feature is hard to believe. Touch the button and it was like putting in a set of earplugs I use for shootiing! Ihis is the coolest technology ever! Sound is incredible! SUPER comfortable in tour ears! Almost like there's nothing there! These are the tool to change the way you listen to music!! Really can't answer about the duribility but if they're anything like Bose speakers, I'll have them a LONG TIME!

A healthy choice - on top of it all

Having used these for a week now, I've realized another, unexpected reason why these noise cancelling headphones are great: ear health. If you've ever stepped off the train or the plane and turned back on the audio you'd been enjoying during your trip, you'll know what I'm talking about. Getting blasted at a disturbingly loud noise level...which was necessary for even a fair listening experience. But walking down the street, working at my desk or during yard work I wouldn't dream to turn up the volume that far. I'd think it'd hurt my ears. Yet, listening to my favorite podcasts on the train or watching a movie on the plane, it has felt appropriate to crank up the volume...because I've had to.
Trading my latest-generation iPhone headphones for my new Bose headphones hasn't been physically exciting only on account of my ears. I feel as though I've also been able to listen to more of my music. Not volume, but quality! So much gets lost when the content is competing with the environment. There were gentle songs from Mendelssohn's Elias and zesty jazz tunes by Esperanza Spalding, among others, which I felt like I was now hearing "right" for the first time. For how small these headphones are, they are very powerful in portraying the music in its complexity. I always felt that the new iPhone headphones were (too) heavy on the bass sounds. My new Bose headphones seem more balanced.
Lastly, what I'll say is that these also have made clear to me by how much noise I'm surrounded throughout the day. There's that moment when the audio content is still off and I'm already turning on the noise cancellation function. It's like wearing earplugs all of a sudden, when I'm actually just wearing very comfortable earbuds. Earbuds that now can play pure stories or songs for me. All that said, there are times, in the office, for example, when it has felt self-indulgent and borderline anti-social to listen with the noise cancellation feature turned on. In those cases I tried the "aware" function to hear more of what's going on around me and it works. Having the option to concentrate and dive into whatever analysis I was working on at the time or to overhear and join conversations is what makes these earphones versatile enough to keep wearing them in either situation.
Okay, one more thing! A friend called me from across the ocean and I used the noise cancellation function during the call. It was easier to hear him and I felt like the connection was better than usual. I realized it was the earphones that did that, because at some point he remarked that the fire trucks outside my office were pretty loud on his end. And I saw them more than I heard them.
