Amazing in-ear sound with great surrounding noise

One headset was kindly provided by Bose USA for testing it.
I own a QC3 since three years back and are very pleased with it. The QC3 always gave me relaxing flights around the globe.
Now, lets see how the in-ear QC 20 is.
When you open the package you see a well packed small headset which is easy to take out of the box. Inside the box is apart from the headset,
a one foot long USB cable with micro USB plug to th the headset battery. A pouch to store the item is also included.
Three set of ear buds in three different sizes where the mid size is installed on the headset. These mid size fit for me. If the user need the
other sizes, just pull them off and install the desired size.
Close by the audio plug is the battery pack. This is charged through the USB and charges quickly on standard USB outlets with 500 mA. I am using
the USB cable on planes to charge, if needed. However the run time of the battery is about 16 hours. Usually this is ok for two long distance flights.
As advantage to the QC3 the QC20 also operates with flat battery, but the sound is not this rich.
When I saw the small ear plugs I was sceptical if this will work. So, plugs in the ears, plug to my Amazon Kindle, power on. Whow. The noice canceling
is great as on the QC 3. Now the music on. I am running Spotify as well as MP3s from Amazon store.
The sound is clear and rich; the bass is significant, Bose typical, but not too heavy. The sound on the QC3 and QC 20 is very close together. Amazing for such small plugs. This what I did not expect and it exceeded my expetations.
Underneath the ear plugs there is a switch. In this tested Android version there are two buttons. One is to stop playing, the other is called attention mode. Whats happening is, the noice caneling is suspended.
Even when the noice caneling is on, voices can still be regognized even on a low volume level. So even when you use the headset you are not death, which I feel is very good.
When the headset is used wind the cable up and put the headset in the supplied pouch. In this pouch is a small pocket where I store the silicone plugs in the other sizes and the USB cable.
There is just one item which I purchased separately, the airline adapter. Apart from the very well made headset I missed this little item. As most users will use this headset when traveling, the adaptor should be in the box as it is with the QC3.
Resumé: Amatzing headset with Bose typical rich sound and well operating noice caneling system. Runs also with battery. Just the airline adapter is missing.

Love these Earbuds!

I received these earbuds through the Bose sample program a short time ago and I cannot get over the quality and sound of these earbuds. Out of the box they feel durable and beefy with a slightly thicker cord and an added noise canceling component near the plug end. At first I second guessed Bose if it was needed once the noise canceling feature was turned on but what I quickly realized was how great of a feature this is to be able turn on/off noise canceling. I found while making phone calls that I had to turn the noise canceling feature off, it was somewhat distracting to have to think about what I was saying with the noise canceling feature turned on. On or off the sound quality is dynamite and you almost forget the noise canceling component is even built into the wire.
I've been wearing these earbuds at home, work, and at the gym and as expected the silicon ear tips keep the earbuds secure and sounding great. I still amazes me how comfortable the silicon tips are, I can keep these earbuds all day. Thanks again Bose for another dynamite product.

"The world is so loud..."
on November 20, 2015

Those were the first words I said after wearing the QC20 for an hour. The noise cancellation is insane. The sound is deep and rich in texture. And of course just like any other Bose earbuds, they are ridiculously comfortable. Bose graciously sent me these for free so that I can review, so after four days of use, I'd like to elaborate on each aspect of the earbuds.
ACTIVE NC: Practically flawless. It transforms the world around you, and works exactly as Bose says. My favorite experience with these was on a bus ride. There was probably something loose inside the bus that caused a deep rumbling and headache-inducing rattling. While my friends were covering their ears in agony, I just plugged in the QC20 and was completely set. Even I turned Aware Mode on, the QC20 still cancelled the noise of the rumbling and most of the rattling, while allowing me to talk with my friends (with full NC, the QC20 even strongly cancels out voices)!
SOUND: The QC20 doesn't have a constant sound signature, because Active EQ varies it depending on the environment around you. However it is easy to give a few characteristics of the sound. These have a very deep bass extension, and were able to play even the deepest rumbles that are hard to hear, but can only be felt. The highs are slightly rolled off, but this is with the intent to protect your ears after long periods of listening. For me, the only drawback of the sound is that although vocals come through beautifully, they don't sound extremely crisp. But that might just be due to the NC slightly interfering with the potential sound quality. I think it is also important to note that turning off the NC also turns off the Active EQ, which results in a drop in sound quality.
COMFORT: Again, practically flawless. The only "flaw" is that if you have sensitive ears, or you have never experienced active noise cancellation before, wearing these with NC on might induce a slight headache for the first couple hours of use. But that's simply because the NC is so good, it is confusing to the brain.
GENERAL: The design and build quality is great. I have been using the included carrying case and I see no problems of them breaking anytime soon. The battery life is just as claimed, around 16 hours. With my regular usage of one class period, a bus ride, and a few hours of listening at night, they lasted me three days before needing a charge again. And finally, if you are worrying about the dongle being annoying, it is for the first few days, but it's pretty easy to adjust to.
OVERALL: Unparalleled level of noise cancellation (can cocoon you in a world of silence), great sound (powerful and clear), and virtually infinite comfort.

Incredible sound quality!!! Big sound!!!

I received these today as a test product from BOSE. I have to say I'm very impressed once again with the sound quality of BOSE products. I have several BOSE blue tooth speakers as well as a sound bar and love ALL of them! These headphones definitely fall into that category too. Crystal clear sound with an amazing amount of bass especially considering how small the headphones are. I anticipate these being well used like the rest of my BOSE products. I would highly recommend these headphones for anyone looking for big sound out of a small device. Great sound and quality as usual from BOSE.

Well done!

At first I thought the idea of noise cancelling ear buds was unnecessary because the earbuds themselves would block out enough of the ambient noise. And I thought the battery/noise cancelling module might be a deal breaker. I mean, who wants a small box dangling in between the device and earbuds? Well, after hearing how much noise Bose is able to cancel out I quickly discovered that the idea of noise cancelling earbuds wasn't so crazy after all. The amount of noise these earbuds cancels out in amazing! listening to music in a car allows me to hear all the music and none of the noise from tires, the road, engine etc. These earbuds would be perfect for people who commute to work on a bus or fly a often.
The earbuds are very comfortable and fit very well. Even after long periods of time. The volume is plenty loud enough and the music sounds very full and balanced with plenty of rich bass. Just the way I like it!
After a short while of using the Quiet comfort 20's I figured out that I can tuck the battery module between my palm and iPhone when taking calls or changing songs and I barely notice it's there. I also just tuck the module and my phone in my back pocket when walking and it's not a problem like I thought it might be. I watch a lot of movies on my iPad and these are quickly becoming my favorite for movies or music even over my beats studio wireless headphones.
Very happy to have a set of these Quiet comfort 20's and highly recommend them to anyone to which music quality and comfort is important.

Great lightweight headphones

I received these QC20 headphones from Bose at no cost as part of the Test & review program. Along with the headphones, the box contained a nice little carrying case that easily slips in a shirt pocket. Inside the case is a pouch are two additional pairs of tips (It comes with one pair of small, medium and large ear tips). The case holds everything including the 12” USB charging cable. What is lacking is a wall charger.
The headphone cable is long enough so you can place your phone in the back pocket and run the wire in your shirt so it doesn’t interfere while jogging. The battery sits about 2” from the jack (the perfect length so the battery can remain behind the phone and out of the way).
The earplugs are easy to install and remain in the ear comfortably even while exercising or wearing for long periods. I’ve used these headphones for listening to music while exercising or being active and while relaxing while sitting back in a chair. I prefer wearing these in situations where I’m actively moving and over-ear headphones while I’m relaxing. I feel the music is richer and more enjoyable in that setting.

Amazing quality, great features, my only problem was the cord being a bit shorter for my height if 6'3" but they sound and work very well. Bose is great, but these were marvelous!
