Awesome ear phones ... But!

Everything about these "in ear" headphones are incredible, especially noise cancellation, but more development of the "Stay Ear + tips" is definitely needed. I tried all 3 sizes and the large fits the best, however they do not seat very well in the ear, and with just a little head movement they nearly fall out, would like them to seal better.
Noise canceling is excellent but the earpiece wasn't quite right: I have large ears and the largest earbud was ok but let in too much ambient sound. It also would fall out on occasion (especially when working on the lawn) so I bought some custom earpieces from a vendor specializing in such a thing. Huge difference!! Had a chance to test my setup during a long international flight: was in a cabin that gave us CQ15s over the ear, and I had my CQ20i with the original earbuds as well as my custom earpieces. The worst (but still very good) was the CQ20i with original earbuds, second best was the CQ15, and the winner (by far) was the CQ20i with custom earpieces. Totally blown away by the noise canceling with a well-fit earpiece. For most people this may not be an issue but if you hesitate to buy this product because there's an issue with fit there is another option... and the results will not disappoint!!!!
This is my 3rd in-ear Bose headphones. Prior to this, I had the Bose IE2 and then the MIE2 which were really awesome! But they got battered already due to prolonged use.. Thinking I will get the same sound quality experience as with previous Bose in-ear headphones, I went on to buy this qc20. But apart from the active noise canceling feature (which is really2x great, by the way), I was a bit disappointed with the audio quality of qc20. It lacks that "oomph" which I normally find in Bose headphones.. I'm missing that exquisite combination of deep, full, rich bass & crystal clear sound. Sadly, I want to go back to my old, battered, over-used MIE2...

Hello there,
Thank you for the review. It is always a pleasure to hear from a long-time customer, and we are glad to hear that you have enjoyed the IE2 and MIE2 headphones. However, you should definitely be getting even better sound quality from the QC20 headphones. In addition to the noise-canceling, the QC20 headphones should also delivery outstanding audio quality with rich deep bass and clear highs.
One thing that may help is to blow out the microphone ports on the earbuds with compressed air to remove any debris that may be blocking the openings. If that does not work, there may be some other things to try and we would like to help you with that. We have sent you an email, but we are also available by phone at 800-380-4831 if you prefer to call. We are here to help Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 9am to 7pm EST.
I loved them for listening, but the microphone is completely unacceptable. One of the main reasons I got them was to talk with people on the phone while I'm walking outside. Not only was the sound quality poor, with fluctuating volume and my words randomly cutting out, but the person on the other end heard ambient noise to the point where they couldn't hear me. I did try clipping them closer to my mouth, but that did not help. Meanwhile, the sound in my ears was perfect. A Bose customer service rep suggested I try another pair because the mic might have been defective. I did so, and the second was just as bad. So, sadly, I have returned them. Will go back to my on-ear Bose for listening (also not a great mic in the extra cord I bought) and the earbuds that came with my phone for conversion.
So glad I made the purchase. Noise cancelling is almost like some kind of witchcraft! Sound quality is amazing. They are my go-to earphones, only trouble is they have made all my others sound terrible!!
I bought theses ear buds a year ago due to their small size. I had previously used ear over Bose headphones. I find that after wearing them for more that 2 hours my inner ears ache from the pressure. My volume button to decrease sound no longer seems to work, seems to be stuck. I'm not a frequent ear bud user so that is likely part of the problem. I am thinking of going back to the headphones.

The discomfort you are experiencing is certainly a concern as these headphones should be able to be worn for hours on end without issue.
