As a senior citizen, I find the camera just what I wanted. It is easy to operate, takes a great picture and I love it. My 9 year old grandson also enjoys taking pictures with it. He has shown me a lot of features I didn't know about.
Great investment for me!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Another lens cover problem

I have owned 5 Canon cameras and 3 of them have had lens cover problems. It must be a weak point in Canon compact cameras.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable

I really like having a small digital. It's very easy to use and I take it with me everywhere. The picture quality is good, but it won't replace my Rebel.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Significant Problems
on April 14, 2010

I have always bought Canon cameras and was looking forward to another great experience from Canon, but I am highly disappointed in the SD1200. The short battery life and low light picture problems I can deal with, but anytime I angle the camera up and take a picture on a cloudy or sunny day with even a small view of the sky, the pictures come out overexposed. And I mean completely overexposed, the pictures are entirely white. Sometimes with a few streaks. I wish I could return the camera and this point. Instead I guess I will use and supplement the pictures it cant take with my camera phone. :(
Pros: Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life, overexposed pictures
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Why?
on January 10, 2010

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the features. Why would Canon take away the best features that always existed on other versions?
1. I always used the clock display (holding down the set button in preview mode). However, this function is missing on the SD1200. Now I can't easily check the time when all I have is my camera. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE CLOCK IS GONE! you were also able to change the colors of the clock display. That was fun too.
2. The fun settings of choosing your own start up image from one of the pictures you have taken, and creating your own sound for shutter, start up, function, and other sounds are also gone!
3. Color accent and Color swap are gone!
Why would Canon take away these features?
Other than that, it's a great camera. Disappointing though for previous Powershot SD owners.
Cons: Missing features/settings

Blurry Pictures
on January 4, 2010

I have always loved my Canon cameras except for this one. No matter how hard I try to hold the camera still it always takes blurry pictures a good 90% of the time. The camera seems great otherwise. I have a Canon PowerShot S500 and I have never had trouble taking pictures. That is a good camera too bad it wore out on me. I had read all the reviews when I looked at this PowerShot SD1200 IS. Now I am out money and a camera.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: very blurry pictures
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

the picutures are grainy; the pictures become blurry with any movement of the subject-i owned a different canon camera before and was satisfied with it...not this one at all. DO NOT BUY..........
Cons: Poor image quality, blurry pictures with any movement of subject
