i think the camera color is really cute i have a blue one but im very upset that the camera doesnt have color swap and color accent and my colors which once the pictures r taken allow u to change them to black and white or sepia i was very upset that the camera didnt have these features. it also doesnt have different start up images only the pink one that says canon and it also doesnt have different options to change the shutter sound and start up sound i bought the camera expecting more features than the old camera not less features but one of the things preventing me from returning it is the color and the new feature smart auto i hope u find this review helpful !!!
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Missing features/settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

Poor Quality Photos

I really loved this camera...until I uploaded the photos to my computer. Pros: The camera handles really easily, there are a lot of functions (but they don't seem to make a difference), and the size is perfect. Cons: out of the hundred or so pictures I've taken, with various settings and in various lighting, only two or three are truly focused. The others are either blurred (your subject and your camera must be perfectly still to get a good shot), or grainy. The low-light pictures are terrible!
Pros: good battery life, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Unhappy With Purchase

One thing that potential buyers should know is that you will not be able to e-mail your photographs using the ZoomBrowser Software UNLESS you have Microsoft Outlook installed on your computer. I called Canon to find out why this was so and I was told it was because the software was designed for computer-based software, not internest-based e-mail programs.
I was very disappointed.
Cons: unable to use e-mail attachment in zoombrowser
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this camera to replace the 750 that was stolen from me. Unfortunately, when I opened the box I found it came with virtually no instructions, just a small "getting started" booklet. So I have no idea how to use this camera. I went on-line hoping to find additional information, but found none.
Don't waste your money unless you intuitively know how to use all hte functions on any digital camera.
I would have been better off puchasing a cheap camera that came with instructions.
Cons: Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu, no insturctions
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Where is the memory?
on April 3, 2009

I tried taking pictures without a memory card and it could not save them because there is no memory. I think Canon needs to indicate somewhere that a memory card is required or include one in the camera. You can't have a picture in your camera w/o a memory card. A memory card is not even on the list of recommended accessories. It should also be included on that list. Some of the features mentioned in the guide are not on the camera. In addition I cannot find a way to save the images in a format other than jpeg (one of my least favorite image file formats). The camera has several options to save an image as a certain size but nothing about file format.
Pros: easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's ok, but not for me

I was personally looking into a new camera to replace my aging S30 (circa 2002), and I was looking for something with a bit more grunt (G10 or S90). This was a gift from my parents, and I love them but this camera is just lacking on performance.
When comparing it with my aging S30 the feature set on the S30 is more robust and diverse, even for its age. My first thought was, "this is like a disposable camera compared to my old one." It is a definite step down from the S30. Fewer features, less control and personally too small.
I put lightweight as a pro, but thats also a bad thing for me. My hands are fairly large and using the button wheel is kind of hard. Not to mention my fingers cover the flash. The viewfinder is completely useless on a camera this small; it shouldn't even have one.
I was also kind of disappointed that the camera didn't come with a memory card. Because whats the first thing you want to do when you get a camera? Take a picture! I mean even a little 64MB or something it was kinda disconcerting.
But my review is kind of biased, it would be like comparing the current S90 with the SD1200. I am an enthusiast and my reaction is kind of obvious. I have been using the "High-End" branch of Canon cameras for years and to be handed this is kind of insulting; however thoughtful. They are two completely different cameras in two different classes.
To put it more succinctly, its like giving someone a wheelchair in an Indy car race.
So my recommendation is if you are looking to buy a camera for a loved one, make sure you know what you're getting.
Pros: Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, Difficult to use, too small, useless viewfinder
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received this camera as a gift. It is fairly easy to take photos. I cannot download photos onto my computer. The software does not allow me to do anything with the photos on my computer, including setting up folders or sending to a site of my choice to develop. The disc would not work at a store to print photos.
