LOVED IT SO MUCH BOUGHT TWO

I purchased the Canon PowerShot 1200is in Pink so my husband would keep his hands off of it because he breaks everything he touches, and if he doesn't break it ... he loses it.
I am not a huge picture taker, but honestly this little camera is powerpacked with great, super easy to use features, and it is so much fun that it stays right in my pocketbook and I bring it everywhere with me. I find myself taking pictures I wouldn't have normally thought to take just because I want to use this camera. I picked this model because it had the view finder which is a feature I thought I couldn't live without, but what I "find" is that I don't even think to use it. Oh well, at least it's nice to know that it's there if I want it.
As for my husband, I had to get him his own PowerShot SD1200is ... in Blue!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: none so far !!
I would recommend this to a friend!

My new Canon is a replacement for my older Canon. It is easy to use and always ready. There was never a question as to buying another Canon.
My only complaint is that the instruction booklet does not explain what all the features are...ISO, resolution settings, different review features, etc. Fortunately I kept the User Guide from my last Canon and it does a much better job of explaining things. I love to take pictures but am far from knowledgeable about the details.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

A Choice I'm Very Happy With

I bought the PowerShot SD1200 IS to replace a 5-yr old digital that was giving me problems. I expected it to at least have the features of my old camera but was surprised at what I got. The ease of 1st time setup, simple to use, it's small & thin, light weight, with large & clear LCD screen, and I must mention it has a view finder which is extremely important to me. The clarity of the pictures would be hard to beat. Colors are crisp and true. The battery chargers are also nice items since you can recharge at home or in your car. It also adjusts in poor lighting and gives good photos. I would recommend this little camera for anyone on the go who doesn't want to carry a big, bulky camera.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, view finder, portable charger

I bought this for myself as my own little birthday present over the summer. I love the camera. It focuses really well on macro. I'm not sure about the video settings because I'm more of a picture-taker, rather than a videotaper. But there are times when the camera takes in a lot of contrast into the picture, but it looks overall nice. The only thing is that it's not too sturdy and the little lever that kept the battery in broke because the cover for it got jammed in so I had to force it open to charge my camera, other than that it's wonderful. :)
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Flimsy Construction

Great digital for the non-pro

Love the camera. Light and compact, easy to use. Doesn't take "400 pages" of techical instructions just to get started. Yet, there are fine tuning capabilities, if you really need them (which most of the time you don't). The "auto" system works well 99% of the time and allows picture taking without constant annoying adjustments and settings. Great product.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

This is such a user friendly camera! I didn't have to ask my kids for advice (like I usually do) I just read the easy manual and away I went! I highly recommend this camera to anyone, it takes beautiful pictures and movies.
The battery lasts forever, and recharges very quickly. It came with a nice padded case that holds everything that goes with the camera.
It is so lightweight and easy to handle. I'm almost glad I broke my other one so I was forced to buy this!!
Such a nice product, you will love, love, love it!!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

We've only had the camera a couple of days. I'm kind of a geek but this camera was very easy to learn. My wife loves the fact that she can plug it into our Cannon MX700 Printer and print the pictures she wants very easily.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: not enough otical zoom

Disappointing Indoors
on February 2, 2010

I have been a loyal Canon customer for over 30 years and have purchased every type from a movie camera to an SLR to the point and shoots. I love taking pictures and after years of beautiful pictures from my SD600, I replaced it with an SD1200 IS. I like having a small camera in my purse all the time and it's a perfect size for that. Unfortunately this camera takes terrible indoor pictures. I've taken enough pictures over the years to know it's not me. They are dull and grainy and no matter how steady you hold the camera, they are blurred. It takes beautiful outdoor pictures, but since indoor shots are what I like to be spontaneous about, I need a camera I can rely on. This is not it. I'm very disappointed.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, too sensitive during focusing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
