I bought this TV and was immediately disappointed with it. After replacing my satellite receiver, I thought some of these issues would disappear but they didn't. I get bleeding colors on many channels, with colors pouring over into the dark images onscreen. The viewing angle is for the most part limited to directly in front of the screen - the quality of the picture from other angles drops off sharply. The picture I'm getting with my SD DVD player, which looked fantastic on my last HD set, is horrific - it looks almost VHS-like.
I will be replacing this set as soon as I find a new one.
What's great about it: Price
What's not so great: Colors bleeding, SD DVD looks awful, very limited viewing angle

I am very disapointed with this tv. The picture quality is awful in fact it has worser picture quality than a Vhs Tape. HD Channels look great but my tv does'nt have to many HD channels. I did'nt return it cause I figured that the fact that it's a 40" tv is probably the reason it looks awful. I will settle for a 25" next time.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: The picture quality is blurry

Do not buy this TV. After going to Best Buy on 3 occasions and having researched reputable reviews, I decided this 60 Hz TV would be great for my bedroom, since 120Hz is not that importnat and Samsung is reportedly a good brand. (it is our fouth TV from Best Buy but our first Samsung).
TO MY SURPRISE, after spending many hours at Best Buy and lugging the TV to my second floor bedroom tonight, I found out that the TV stand included in the box is not a swivel and furthermore there is no relationship between the instructions included for base stand assembly and attachment to the TV with the actual parts included in the box - it is almost they are for another TV. First thing tomorrow morning, I am returning this TV to Best Buy. What a waste of time!!
What's not so great: It is not a swevel TV. Instructions for assemby of base absolutely do not match the product inside the box!

For the money, and depending on the size of your room, the 40" B Series 530 model is arguably better than all the top 2008 A series models, even those using 120Hz. I concentrated mostly on Blu-Rays (not a big TV sports guy) and even the fastest paced movies e.g, BLACK HAWK DOWN, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, and BATMAN BEGINS, exhibted no motion blur or judder because of the 6ms refresh rate. The resolution and black levels are better than the A Series 650, 750, and 850 models. So you're basically getting last years best Sumsung LCD model with better picture at hundreds of dollars less . 120Hz is still ideal (mostly for sports), but is basically unnecessary with this TV, especially on a 40". Even for the most discriminating eye, it would be very difficult to tell if there are any artifatcs because you'll be fully immeresed in the movie or game you're playing. Samsung has outdone themselves and continues to get better every year.
What's great about it: Picture Quality, Black Levels, Price
What's not so great: I use external speakers -- so nothing really

For the money you cannot buy a better tv. The picture quality is amazing. It looks as good as tv's that are more that twice the price. And if you have a 5.1 system which everybody should have anyways, the sound won't even matter. One of the best things I have ever bought.
What's great about it: easy to set up. great picture

I bought this TV about a week ago and all I can say is this was a great buy. I looked at TV's for about a month and I have owned two other 42" flat panel TV's. My sister and brother-in-law have a Sony Bravia and I have to say that the picture on this TV is as good if not better than the Sony, but for about $400 cheaper. I'm not quite sure why some people's reviews said the sound was only fair on this TV. Unless you hook-up surround sound, you should epect factory speaker quality. Bottom line - the picture is amazing with HD and the sound is very good. If you want a high end TV for a good price, this is the one to buy!
