Excellent Buy

I've had this camera for almost a week. I'm a loyal Canon user. My previous camera - Canon Power Shot S2 IS was (and still is) the bomb! However it is not a camera you pop in your purse or pocket and go. I purchased the Power Shot SD780 IS specifically for a "take with me everywhere" camera.
The Power Shot SD780 IS does NOT have Superfine, like the S2 did. HUGE loss, in my opinion.
I expected more out of a 12x zoom. I take a lot of pictures of clouds and the sky - my S2 is far better at sunset shots as it picks up the pink, orange, red, white, blue, and light blue (gray) streaks in the sky far more clearly. The SD780 cannot. The colors blur together. I prefer natural unfiltered shots - so using the sunset setting isn't for me as it adds a big punch of orange that may not naturally be there. So I'll stick with my S2 for those pictures.
Outdoor, natural light - absolutely excellent pictures. The indoor setting rocks as well.
The HD movie options is fun and the quality does not disappoint.
All in all - it's a fabulous camera for a beginner.
Menu wheel is too narrow and will be harder on users with larger fingers.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, hd movie quality, 90 minute charge time
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, menu wheel too narrow, no superfine setting

The Best Camera I've Ever Had!

I bought the black SD780 today, and I was blown away by the picture quality! No other digital camera I've owned can stand up to the clarity of the images. Video is exceptional and sound comes through great. My favorite features are Color Accent and Color Swap. It's a fun, creative feature that many people like me would enjoy. The other shooting modes are a nice addition, too. Zooming in doesn't degrade the quality in any way. The 12x digital zoom is a plus when you need to get extra close. Face, motion, and blink detection work flawlessly. Even though it's small, the SD780 feels comfortable when holding it, and the controls are easy to use. The quality of this camera is amazing. I researched for weeks and settled on the SD780. It's worth every penny! Thanks, Canon!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, optical viewfinder, color accent/color swap, hd video, beautiful color/finish

I am very pleased with this camera. It's convenient size lets you fit it just about anywhere. Perfect for a night out! In your pocket or in your clutch purse. And Canon wasn't kidding when they said that this camera has motion detection. I've taken pictures that I thought I'd have to delete or retake, but not with this camera. It's on the prowl to capture your best picture. Its astounding capability has surprised me many times. Also, the face detection feature is pretty sweet. It helps one confidently position the camera to capture only the best picture. This little camera is my new best friend.
Pros: easy to use, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable

Was not sure about this camera

I bought this camera after my favorite Canon was stolen. I wasn't sure I would like it, but it is a great camera! I love how clear the movies are and the options and customization can't be beat. Just a few days ago I took a hard fall and smashed the camera to the ground, besides a few little scratches and the loosening of the lens cap-thing it still works like it was new. Great pictures, video and very durable, who could ask for more????

If you're a good photographer, you'll realize that the camera is probably making better choices and doing if faster than you can on your own. If what you hope for is a simple camera and better photos than you know how to create on your own, this is a terrific camera. Are the results the same as my friend would get with his $5000 canon camera with 22mp and his $1600 luxury lens? Not likely. BUT, he'll probably miss the shot while I get it with this little camera which I can pull out of my pocket and fire away as he gets all set up. AND I don't intimidate people with my little camera. The 780 does a very fine job of making me look good as a photographer. I do have the big cameras, too, but they usually are locked up at home. And the best camera is the one I carry with me all the time, not the one locked up at home, right?
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, aways ready to make great shots

Excellent camera, very nice auto features and quality of pictures for the size of camera is astonishing. I compared it to other name brand cameras around the same price and in my opinion is the best looking (black) and perfoming compact camera out now... HD vids in 720p is just icing on the Great cake...XD
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

When I was looking for a new camera I went straight to the Canon website, because I knew they were the ones to depend on when looking for a great camera. I was right, my PowerShot SD780 IS works amazing, I use it all the time for pictures of myself, my friends, my pets and sports. I've never had a camera that could do so much. The feature I like on it is the one where you can select the whole picture black and white and only have one color show. I also really like the color, and how small it is. I love my Canon and I use it 24/7 !
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, always a clear photo
Cons: Complicated controls/menu
