Best Puchase Ever

It is a good idea to figure out what kind of consumer you are. This will enable you to make a decision with the end result being positive. A prosumer is someone who is looking for advanced features and has an eye for the little things. A professionals’ life thrives on a working, high quality digital SLR. If it is your life work, it’s realistic to step up.
To move ahead, all people reviewing and browsing cameras have bias. It’s not a bad thing! It is something that simply is. Some reviews are more up front while other reviews are a little more difficult to figure out. Some are not that complicated.
The angle I choose to approach this review is from the average consumer.
Being your average consumer, I find this camera to be very helpful when it selects the settings for me. Yet, if the reach of the camera cannot make it well, I can manually adjust the ISO settings, contrast; green-, blue-, and red-balance. These are all I need for the camera to be.
Yes - the photographs do reveal noise (random speckles) when zoomed in closely. However, this camera is a big step up from my 7 year old Canon A40, so needless to say I am happy with my purchase. =)
In summary, the SD780 shoots high quality photos. It is very pocket friendly, and is fast to boot.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu

Best point and shoot I've ever owned

Overall, I couldn't be happier with this camera. I used to own a Powershot S40 which was a bit outdated. Having gone from the monsterous S40 to this little thing took a bit of adjustment. Having bigger fingers makes using the tiny menu buttons a little hassle but the picture quality of this camera more than makes it worth while.
It doesn't do that great in lowlight and the pictures taken in these conditions will bring back a lot of noise in the pictures. I'm only a casual user so nowhere near a pro by any means so this really doesn't bother me. The pictures print out beautifully and this camera takes crisp pictures in almost any condition. It's simple to use and powers on in about 2 seconds. I really enjoy the HD quality movies this thing can take since my old camera only took 30 seconds clips in YouTube quality.
For me, being a casual user, the price point for this was a bit steep considering there are numerous other camera makes/models out there that are significantly cheaper. Having used this camera so far, I can definitely say the extra price was worth it. This camera does exactly what a point and shoot should and takes the hassle out of figuring the correct setting or whatever before taking the shot.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, dainty

Great little camera

It's a great little camera to carry in your purse. Having 12 mega-pixels in a camera this small sure beats carrying around my big camera and all those different lenses just for everyday use. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, and I did!

I like the shots from the LCD but when I upload them on the computer it's different. I guess the LCD doesn't show the real quality of the image. There's too much grain also when shooting on high ISO or low-light.
But it does what a point & shoot does. It's easy to use and my favorite setting is the Fireworks. I love it to bits. My only advice is you should know how to manipulate this camera through the settings so your shot wouldn't go wrong. Go Foliage for fields, Sunset for skyscapes, Beach if there's too much blue (even when not in the beach). I love this little devil. (:
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life

next time i'm going to invest in a really nice digital camera only because i prefer that the pictures be clearer and focused with fewer blurrs and low lighting problems. i am more than a casual user but nowhere near professional so i would suggest this camera to someone who takes A LOT of pictures, but isn't necessarily looking for the ultimate best picture quality, although overall the quality is pretty good!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, Complicated controls/menu, fragile, limited settings i.e. "sports" or "on stage"
I would recommend this to a friend!
