Insanely slow shutter speed

Worked great out of the box, took good photos, and automatic settings worked well. But three months later there is at least a 1 second delay between pushing the button and taking the picture. I keep missing shots of my 7 month old because the camera just refuses to the take the picture. Super disappointed.
Pros: Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Short battery life, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

CONVENIENCE!!

I love my powershot. First, the bad. The video mode will not refocus during the video so you cant change the distance to the subject without getting some blurring. Also, in video mode, low light isn't handled very well. Being such a compact camera, I can overlook any of the shortcomings. For the price and size, it's perfect AND I can do HD video.
There is a mode for every situation in still camera mode and an experienced (patient) or knowledgeable user can really get some great quality shots with this little camera. It's tiny and can do everything. It does have a tripod adapter on the bottom and I have used it to get some great pictures with natural lighting.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, usable optical aiming window, image stabilization works well, tripod adapter
Cons: no refocusing during video

I had a question about using the charger overseas and not only did the rep. at Tech support explain how it can be used- he also explained what the manual instruction preety good. Did not have a long wait time for rep. either.
Set up was pretty was pretty easy. The camera is pretty small but you can get used to the small buttons. It works like there's a professional photgrapher living inside the camera. The way it chooses the right shots to shoot just in Auto mode. Its amazing. I took a picture of the tv screen with the shot of a person and it was so clear it could go for a picture taken from a magazine. Didn't think a camera could do that. It's a very dynamic piece from Canon.
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality

Small size not small performance

Excellent size with a quick to charge battery. Excellent auto mode for deciding the best settings on the fly. Doesn't have the manual controls like I typically expect from Canon. Image quality has thus far been above par even indoors without flash. Clean color tones and natural looking photos.
A little disappointed in the quality of the HD video, but I have not shot very many thus far. Requires memory card rated specifically for HD video to record for any sustained amount of time. NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED BETTER ON WEB AND BOX Otherwise EXCELLENT form factor and fit and finish. Beautiful screen and physical appearance. Best Canon I've had so far. Still some room to improve.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life

Best Videos

My Elph takes better videos than a video camera. I kid you not. People are always asking me what kind of video camera I used to shoot my videos because they're so crisp and have beautiful color. I pull out my tiny PowerShot and blow them away.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, takes great videos

Lets start out saying that everyone that reads this they need to understand that it is for a compact digital camera not an SLR as some people start to compare these items with. Now I have had this camera a little while now and and its features are great, I was upgrading from another camera where the image processor had died. Over all the camera is great, it has a ton of features that you have most likely read about in the info area but the one thing it should have with the size of memory cards you can get today is to save the image in RAW format, to have 12 mega pixels and then to save in JPG to me crazy!
CANON PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE release a firmware upgrade to allow for RAW format image.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: no raw format

I bought this camera to take pictures at our Halloween Party. Once I figured out how to manually set the ISO, the camera took great lowlight pics. The Auto feature didnt seem to take as good a pic in this lowlight setting, but Auto takes outstanding pics in most other settings.
I unfortunately dropped this camera a few weeks ago with the lens extended, which of course ruined the camera. But I sent it off to the folks at Canon and they have begun repairs on it (at a fee of course). I can't wait to get my camera back and try it out!
Lots of features and easy to use with a little reading you can really get into some of the really awesome "hidden" features of this camera.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: dont drop with lens extended!
