D-SLR user buys Point & Shoot
on February 17, 2010

I toiled for months about buying a point & shoot. I use a D-SLR (Canon, of course).. and I finally broke down & bought this one. I absolutely LOVE it. One of the nicest features is that you can turn off the flash and the camera will automatically reset exposure/shutter speed so the shot comes out great!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Camera

Great camera, awesome auto features, good quality. I have never had a camera that has been so easy to use for a quick photo. I do recommend however that you purchase a high-speed SD memory card for the best enjoyable photos. The only con that I have would be the small buttons but is a small price to pay for the small size.
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: small buttons

It takes pratice

I purchased the camera for my Christmas present and have been taking some practice shots.
My initial impression was that the camera was not very good. What I have found out after use is the Auto mode is not good for dark indoor shots and it is best to take indoor pictures with the digital zoom off. Pictures taken indoors with Auto mode will look good on camera, however when printed they will be grainy and not sharp.
For indoor photos, I have found the Indoor mode to be invaluable for clear, ungainly pictures in dimly lit rooms. They come out great when printed.
I have not yet taken any other type of photos and I am assuming that if the camera takes great indoor shots, it will also take great outdoor shots with practice and proper mode.
I chose the red camera because the other colors were not very attractive to me. Cannon please bring back the chocolate brown of the 1100 and I am sure you will sell more cameras.
It is missing some of the picture modes of my older camera which I found useful.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, best color is red
Cons: Missing features/settings, camera color choices., best color is red

The perfect camera for everyday use!

I had a PowerShot model for many years but wanted something I could put in my purse to catch pics of my grandchildren. This camera outdid my expectations! It is easier to use than my other Canon....tiny...and yet the pictures are outstanding! My daughter saw what it did and went out and bought one herself....and as a teacher, it will get good use!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

mediocre at best

I bought this camera to replace my old SD1100 IS that was lost. I loved my old SD1100 (was a 8.0 mega pixel) and really wish I had just gone with the newer SD1200 model. The 780 does not do well on default settings and nearly all pictures taken of my very active toddler came out blurry. After FINALLY figuring out the settings 5 months after purchase the pictures come out clear but VERY dim while indoors. Even with the flash on. One thing I Am extremely disappointed with this camera about is that unlike the SD1100 I previously had the SD780 does not have a freeze image feature. I can no longer take pictures of the scenery out the window while riding in the car during trips. This model definitely has holes in it's design.
Pros: good battery life, durable, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Complicated controls/menu
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love this camera

This is the very first camera that I've owned, and I couldn't be happier. The picture quality is great, and it has good "smart features" like face detection, blink detection, red eye detection, auto exposure/flash/shutter speed, etc. I really did my research on this, because I wanted to get the best camera I could for the money I had, and now I'm sure I made the right choice. It's small and sleek, and for such a little camera, it packs a lot of punch. The LCD screen is also very bright and clear, and the battery life is around three hours on a full charge with the default brightness settings. I'm really glad I found this camera.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Great little ultra compact

I've had the camera about a month and taken 2000 images with it for undercover work. It works great in low light situations with good image capture. My only beef would be for Canon to give this product a 4-6X optical zoom which would not necessitate a much larger camera frame and enhance the ability to take candid undercover shots uobotrusively. This is my 5th Canon overall and I couldn't be more satisfied.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable
I would recommend this to a friend!
