Great Camera!

I bought this camera about 3 months ago, and I have loved it every step of the way! It is a great size, so it fits in my bag easily, and it has a lot of features. It has many different settings for the different types of pictures you want to take. I love that I can take pictures through glass or screens, and they turn out like the barrier is not even there! I have used canon camera's in the past, so I bought this one as an update to my current one, and the technology has definitely become more advanced. I bought the black colored one, and it is very sleek. Great little camera all around.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Reminds me of the Ole Days

This is a great little compact camera. As a Veteran of 12 years in the Intelligence Community, this camera reminds me of the days when we had devices the rest of the world could only dream about. For a camera this small to be able to take pictures this detailed and beautiful it makes me wonder what is out there that we still don't have access to the technology, but I am sure the guys and gals at Cannon will be among the fist to bring it to us as it is released. I love me Elph and have been taking great photos for 3 months. Love the optical view finder - it's great on the beach when the sun, mist, and haze are really kicking-up. Thanks Cannon and keep up the good work
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

love it!

i really love this camera! i think the best part about this is the video. its hd, of course, so the picture & sound quality are good. and its really quiet when you zoom in or out unlike the cameras i had in the past. it also takes good pictures even when there's no flash or if you're in a dark place. in my humble opinion, the menu is kinda complicated, but i guess you just need to know your camera a little bit more to get used to it. this might not be good for people with large hands because the camera is really small and the buttons are really close to each other. but this camera is really good! you won't regret buying this.
Pros: easy to use, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Very small and convenient. Hardly know it is in my pocket because it is so small. Easy to use, and pictures are magnificent for such a small camera.

Great Little Camera!

My only comment on this great little camera is that I hope on future generations of this model Canon will eliminate the silly microscopic viewfinder, which is really too small to be useful at all. And really, who uses a viewfinder with pocket digital cameras anymore? I would eliminate the useless viewfinder and maximize the LCD screen instead. Other than that, a perfect sub-compact pocket camera that packs a punch!
Pros: excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: get rid of viewfinder

Simply Irresistible

This is simply an irresistible little camera. Just when you think Canon couldn't possibly out do itself they surprise you with a nice little gem like this SD780. The camera is exceedingly small, yet if you look at the specs for the dimensions it pretty much sizes up with a lot of other tiny digital point and shoots. But the smooth rounded styling and lack of any protrusions make it look and feel even smaller than its stats would suggest. It almost has the feel of a well worn, but very dry!, bar of soap. I think this is similar to what Walter Zapp had in mind when he made his wooden prototype for the first Minox camera. Personally, I prefer the all black finish. And the best thing is that Canon has still managed to keep the optical viewfinder no matter how small the camera seems to get! I don't really see a big difference, however in the 12.2 megapixels as opposed to "only" 5mp in the older SD400 and SD30 cameras. I like to shoot at ISO 80 whenever possible and especially in black & white, but that's just me. At this speed the picture quality is outstanding. The only real drawback is that noise begins to show up rather quickly at around 200 ISO and pretty much goes downhill from there. If visual noise is a trade off for more pixels, I would rather have fewer pixels and less noise. The HD video quality is also quite remarkable although I only used it a couple of times. Another small bonus is that the old leather case made for the Rollei A110 and E110 cameras fits the SD780 like a glove and looks great on it too! This is a real gem of a pocket camera to take along wherever you go. Its picture quality and performance leave the competition in the dust that even my digital SLR stays home collecting!!
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, stylish
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

Great "Tiny" camera
on March 4, 2010

Purchased this "tiny" camera to have a digital that I could carry in my shirt pocket and get great pics. Read all the reviews and chose the SD 780 and am completly satisfied. I normally use a DSLR, but needed a camera that would produce a good picture with little weight. This on fits the bill!. Of course, you can never match the photos of a DSLR, but this one is great!...Love it!...
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: small buttons

A GOod All Around Camera

This is a very easily carried camera for spontaneous pics. The controls are not intuitive but do cover most needs. I continue to worry about the flimsy usb connection cover breaking but so far lt seems to be holding up. The on/off button takes getting used to since it is small and almost recessed.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Flimsy Construction
