Sadly, It's Not What I Hoped! :(

I bought this camera during a sale anxious to see how great my pictures were going to be jumping from my 6MP SD600 to this 12MP SD780. Boy, was I disappointed! The ONLY way the SD780 beats the SD600 is by being smaller! When I take pictures of my cats with the SD600 I can count the cat’s eyelashes - the same picture, the same distance, same cat, same position, same lighting, the SD780 just pixilated under high magnification. Trust me, I took time to read the manual and I did have the SD780 set to the Kids & Pets mode. This didn't happen just once, but picture after picture, head to head, the SD600 beat the SD780. Eventually, I gave up, returned the SD780 and polished up my beloved SD600!
Pros: Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality, disappointing overall
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my first digital camera and I love it. It is simple to use for a beginner and it has many features that I intend to learn & use. It does not need all the "bells & whistles" to produces pictures that trap the memories to the max.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Little Camera

I got the SD780 for Christmas and I love It. I got It solely for the HD video, the small compact size and the 12.1mp. I am not really a camera buff but to me this camera Is amazing.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Purchased this item a couple months ago and proud to report this camera is everything and more than noted online.
Easy to use, high megapixeles and light weight. I highly recommend!

I always read all of the reviews about the product before i buy the item and what can i say..i have really made the right choice on buying a great camera! bought it yesterday & i would not part w/ it ever!! the key factor before operating any camera..you have to read your instruction book first!!my wife is so excited to use the camera..she almost could not sleep last night thinking of all the moments of picture taking that she has missed! so to this keep up the good legendary work Canon, you folks are the bomb! mahalo & aloha , kakaika

Good Camera/ Needs Better Image Quality.

I liked the look of this camera a lot for it's lightweight, color, and megapixel quality. All the feature are nice however, I am still not impressed with the image quality. I have been with a Cannon power shot my whole life and I feel that my last camera with 6.0 megapixels had a better image quality than this 12.0 megapixel camera.

Autofocus problems

I like the camera but I think my old cannon took a better picture and was easier to use. The hd video comes out real nice but my pictures were always out of focus. The auto focus rarely focuses on what I want to shoot. So I would get alot of blurry pictures of my subjects. I finally set the camera to center focus and my pictures are coming out much better.
Pros: good battery life, Lightweight/Portable
