Nice player for dvd's. For Blu ray it needs a software package download from a 3rd party however. Would give it 5 stars if it came with all the needed software!

Was fine until the USB connector detached from PCB

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this many years ago and had no issues with it until the fully surface mounted micro USB connector detached from the PCB, which of course rendered it unusable.
They should've used either a fully through hole micro USB connector, or at least one where the shielding has 2 through hole soldering tabs, so that it cannot be easily detached from the PCB.
I know that one could consider this an operator error, but I disagree -- this is a design oversight. BTW, I've seen the same error (and same detachment!!) on a test board costing at least 10 times as much, so this is not an uncommon error.
If not for this, I would've given 4 or 5 stars, since I had no issues whatsoever before that. BTW, I plan to take it apart and attempt to repair it by soldering down a new USB connector.

Will waste BDRs

The drive worked fine the first few times I used it but then it kept getting part way through the burn and would stop with an error message telling me to update the firmware and try again. So I went to LGs support page and typed in the model number and no product with that model number was found. Keeps destroying disk and stopping half way. Not sure how to fix this.
Pros: do not buy

Just burnt a few 25GB Blu ray data discs and a few 25GB M-disc archive blu ray discs. All burns were successful and completed quite fast taking approximately 30 minutes or so at x6 speeds. I used my 2014 MBP running 10.9 mavericks using the free finder to burn with. I have not tried it on my windows or Linux PCs yet but will update when I do.
Can't wait to try some of the newest 100-200 GB M-Disc archive media.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In order to use the drive to watch DVD's or Blu Ray DVD's you must purchase additional software (it comes with trial software only). This is not advertised with the drive. Personally, I am not willing to buy a drive that I have to then buy additional software in order to use.

Product has issues

Just starting using this product and I keep loosing connection to the drive while using it. I unplug the usb and re-plug back in to get it working again and then after a minute or so it looses connection. I've tried another pc with the same results.I think this product still needs some testing before further marketing in my thought.

Terrible reliability. Almost never works. No online firmware upgrades available. Basically an enormous waste of money. Hugely disappointed.

plug and play with no problem

I have been using this with the All in One I recently bought and it works great, I have burned quit a few BD-R and DVD-R on this and it works great each time. I have not had any connectivity problems and it worked with the first plug in.
