No FW Updates. Fails in Burns Constantly, Useless

This burner just burns up (as in failed discs) $1 a piece Blue Ray BD-R's. The firmware does not appear to be update capable, as no firmware updates are ever posted by LG for this model. (Hard to believe anyone makes a drive without Flash update capable firmware, but this device appears to be such an undesirable object. DVD works fine, but the Blue Ray functions are basically useless. LG site is also useless. If the player actually has FW updates, then no one in the USA can find it. This product BP50NB50 (and companion product WP50NB50, B for Blue Ray, W for "Writer") are both awful. Spend your money on a Blue Ray writer that actually works, and that has firmware update support. I totally failed on this, and then actually accidentally bought a second one that I am returning today, after I realized it was the same inferior product. LG should be ashamed that they put something this bad into the market. It is so bad that I am never buying another LG anything again.

DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have TWO different LG Blu-ray portable players. NEITHER of them will play a Blu-ray disc. Both play DVDs fine. Not a good product

all blu-rays I have recorded,at some point picture will freeze while audio keeps playing and this will last 1-3 minutes. In a one hour recording it happens 3-5 times.
Pros: easy to use

The LG 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # BP50NB40 is compatible with the Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista (32 bit, 64 bit), Windows XP (SP3) and Windows 10 Operating Systems and is also compatible with the Mac OS X v.10.7.5 or higher Operating Systems. When connected, it appears as another drive on the computer and you can select which files you want to transfer from a DVD to your Mac the same way he would move any file in his Mac. Also, please reboot your computer while the drive is connected to it. If that does not work, please contact us at 1-800-243-0000. ^AC

Not buying another LG Product! EVER

I bought this unit a 3 weeks ago at Best Buy and it stopped reading blue ray discs (DVDs would still read. I tried calling Customer Support and got placed on hold many times during the call and was told that I could get a replacement reader and they would send me a email with instructions on where to send the player. The email NEVER came and when I called back I was told that supervisors weren't available until Monday, their email staff was off until Monday.
YES... I looked at updating the firmware however your firmware patch was for 1.01 and the firmware on the reader was 1.02 so the patch wasn't even current.
I wrote a previous complaint but it was deleted by LG so they don't like the truth being posted about their terrible product. Sorry but I'm a senior software engineer and not some non-technical purchaser. If this is how customer service works, I won't buy a product where I have to deal with LG again.
