I never could get this GPS to accept addresses. I tried changing areas and everything. It still would just jump to whatever street it had in the programming. Would NOT allow me to input addresses manually. The gps on my cell phone is 10 times better and much easier to use. Have no need for one that I cannot make entries in by keyboard.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Difficult to use beyond any usability

Power cord failed after only 6 or 7 family trips. Garmin refuses to make it good. If you want the traffic info, you must have the more expensive power cord as it is also the traffic reciever . For my money, I will never buy a garmin product again.

The basic unit seems ok, but I paid for the traffic feature and after the first week of using it, it disappeared. I've talked to their awful customer support multiple times with each call taking about 20-30 minutes. The last time, it took me 30 minutes to get through, only to have to wait another 20 minutes to get technical support. They wouldn't give me a new traffic receiver before downloading the latest map, but after the 6 hour download process (using DSL), still no traffic. Probably a decent product if you get one that works (others online have had similar problem), but the customer service is among the worst I've ever had to deal with.
What's great about it: GPS seems to work ok
What's not so great: Traffic, which I specifically wanted does not work.

I was excited to be purchasing this because of all the great features and everything included ; the QWERTY ; waypoints, W&T, reroute, transmitter. etc . i really thought Garmin was the way to go. it ended up freezing up, i exchanged it twice at the same store ; then decided it may be a defective batch. i exchanged it an hour away while visiting friends and family. it thought i was in lake michigan while driving on a major insterstate in Texas! it froze up, it was just a headache. i then exhanged it at another store. the thing never acted right. it was all crazy. the cool features not worth the headache or money. i would recommend better product for your money Magellan SE4
What's great about it: weather and tracffic up date (but not worth the headache)

I recently bought 255wt gps and used for my Boston to Toronto trip. This unit works very well in general . The only problem that was the traffic updates. The traffic symbol pops up wherever the FM transmitter available. According to the manual, the color of the symbol changes base on the traffic conditions, but this was not true. The symbol stayed green the whole time. It does not matter the traffic is heavy or no traffic at all. Any one who purchased this unit experience this problem please post your comment up!!
What's great about it: price/acquire signal instantly
What's not so great: FM traffic update does not work well

The first time I used it i was amazed it actually does what it says it'll do plus more. I used it on a trip to NC, and it told me when i should get there, and how fast i was going plus the posted speed limit(saves on tickets...sorta) sometimes it wasnt as accurate but thats because i haven't updated it
What's great about it: VERY accurate, lots of features, nice big screen
What's not so great: i guess the battery....but nothing last forever right?lol

The traffic alert feature is great when it works. Our vacation trip down I-95 to Myrtle Beach was wrought with 5 lengthy traffic delays. The traffic alert feature saved us 4 times, setting us up with alternative routes that cut the delays down significantly. The 5th time, the unit showed "green" lights, and we were sitting in stop and go traffic. We went with the alternate "detour" button to get us out of that one, though. On another note, "Serena," the British female voice option, sounds as though she has brain damage- she slurs words like, "North" into "Nor-eth" and "Boulevard" into "Boulevar-ared." It was good for some laughs.
What's great about it: Traffic and Eco Features; value for price.
What's not so great: No manual provided; Traffic alert failed once.
