I think the Garmin is great. This is my first gps(besides my cell phone) Mine has the traffic and weather updates, which is a must have by the way. It can route you around traffic jams and accidents before you get to them. I tried it side by side with a magellan. It was a little better, the only thing I liked about the magellan is it would alert you 2 miles before your turn, and again one mile before your turn. The magellan also is easier to type in the town name, because it is a little better a predicting what you are gonna type. The garmin usually alerts you 1 mile before your turn. All in all, the garmin a good device to have, I would by it again. It can be a pain typing in a town name. Happy Hunting
What's great about it: Pretty acurate on directions(MOST of the time)
What's not so great: A little difficult setting it up and changing settings

GPS is a device to show directions to a destination, no bluetooth needed. California law does not allow GPS to sit on dashboard, if the device comes with a handle, not a suction cup on windshield, it would be appreciated.
What's great about it: Easy to use, very pratical product
What's not so great: Having an American English voice would be great, only British English available for street name announcer

I absolutely love the garmin nuvi! It's easy to use and handle! It has a built in safety feature which recommends you to not use it while driving but will let you over-ride if you need to which is handy!

Purchased this to upgrade from a much older GPS system that I used on my PDA. This Garmin Nuvi is a big upgrade for me. The map movement is smooth and clear. Voice directions are clear and understandable. The voice is a little on the quite side so you may not hear it if the radio is turned up or the windows are down while flying down the highway but should be fine for most people. System is simple and easy to understand and use. Touch screen is responsive and menus are intuitive.
What's great about it: Good display, very clear. Map movement is also very smooth.
What's not so great: Traffic updates havent been very helpful yet.

Used it the first time on a trip from Iowa to Pennsylvania and we loved it! So much easier than using a map. Easy to use; didn't even require reading the manual. We just used for directions but the additional features (traffic, gas, driving challenge) will come in handy as we use it more. If you happen to miss a turn it's nice to know it will recalculate and get you back on the right track. Feel like it paid for itself in just one trip.

It was not as expensive as comparable models by other manufacturers. No traffic updates as promised even though ads have been enabled. Locations are not current. I searched for gas stations near my home and it missed the 2 gas stations 2 blocks away. The location feature was also useless when attempting to get driving directions to a movie theater.
What's great about it: Easy of use, clear maps, clear voice
What's not so great: maps not current, no traffic updates as advertised

This unit, the 255WT, was what I was looking for.. great features without the bluetooth connectivity. The routing programming is much better than my old TOM TOM. I wish it had more voice selections; the Garmins are "annoying".
What's great about it: The Garmin 255WT is what I wanted . no bluetooth, but traffic conect for free.
