I live in Florida and my suction cup window mount system was constantly failing and I was worried about damage to GPS unit. This system TOTALLY eliminates this issue and puts the GPS viewing area at eye level; I find this to be less distracting. It is a little larger that the window mount, but it is extremely stable as a result.

Just got a different car and this product works much better than the suction cup option. This same mount also comes packaged differently with a carry case, which might be nice to have...so look for different packaging if you would want that. For those not wanting the extra cost or case, buy this one.
