The UPS functions perfectly as advertised, easy to setup and use. The problem I discovered was the batteries are inserted from the bottom side and the weight of them doesn't hold them in place. I ended up adding a spacer between the battery and cover to keep the batteries in place.
I would have returned it for a different product, but due to overseas travel I didn't have time to deal with it.

I just moved back to Florida, into a rental home, and lost power briefly on my second day back - no surprise; I also noticed some lights flickering when the vacuum was run, so I went out the next day and bought one of these.
I choose the 1300 over the 1500 because I figured most FL brown-outs only last a second or two and if the power went out more than a couple minutes I would shut down/auto-shut down my computer anyway. Also, the claim of 140 minute run time is for a minimal system with virtually nothing connected to the UPS.
I am using this to provide power to a 24" LCD, Power mac, External drive, Cable Modem, and an airport extreme and surge protection to a second 24" LCD, Drobo Pro, Printer, PogoPlug and a switch. As I said I dont expect more than 5-10 minutes protection, which I am fine with, but this will allow me to save work to server or locally and give me time to shut down if needed.
My wife ran the vacuum cleaner yesterday and every time she turned it on the APC kicked in. The line voltage dropped to around 50VAC for a half second but the APC kept me running smooth. Obviously there is a wiring issue in this rental - which I notified the owner about - but I don't expect them to fix it while I am here. In the mean time, I feel I am protected with this unit.
The unit looks GREAT, is easy to set up, has Mac/PC PowerChute (auto shutdown software) available and works flawlessly. As other reviewer stated, it belongs ON the desk and not under it - it looks that good. :-)
What's great about it: Looks, clear instructions, works as advertised
What's not so great: ambitious claim of 140 minute run time

I live in the " Burbs " and over the past several months have experienced 5-6 brown-outs per day. ( I have already had 2 power supplies fried on my new $2,500.00 computer) I have the Geek Squad Protection Plan, so there was no problem in getting them replaced. Hopefully this will rectify the problem and give me peaceful nights.
What's great about it: Battery back-up and surge protection, plenty of hook-ups.
What's not so great: Nothing so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Protect your Media Equipment too!

I wanted to protect my multi-media equipment (53" LCD TV, DVR, Receiver, etc) from surges and also keep things running for those times the power goes out for 10 seconds but makes you wait for the DVR to re-boot. I have a whole house generator but it takes about 20 seconds to kick in.
I plugged in the UPS, let it charge overnight, unplugged the powerstrip from the wall and plugged it into the UPS. According to the digital readout on the UPS with everything turned on (including the 200 watt receiver) I have around 50 minutes of runtime.
I have used APC for years on my home equipment, workstations and servers at work and have always had good luck.
What's great about it: Holds my 53" LCD TV & DVR for around 50 minutes
What's not so great: Nothing so far
I would recommend this to a friend!

There is nothing as pleasing as finding a product that does what it is supposed, does it well, and does not require a lot of set up. I am very pleased with this unit. It's quite and unobtrusive.
What's great about it: It is simple and easy to use and does what it is supposed to well
What's not so great: Nothing that I have noticed

I bought this UPS to replace a Belkin unit that could not be monitored by my Windows Home Server machine.
This one works great with Windows Home Server (using Grid Junction), and the load/runtime/condition display is quite handy to see how much power you're actually using.
While I'm not using the load-controlled outlets for my server, I'm considering another unit to use on my desktop machine where I could plug the display and peripherals into the load-controlled outlets for additional power savings.
The unit seems to run cooler than the Belkin unit (with AVR) it replaced, and the size and shape looks great too.
What's great about it: Nice display, power-saving features, small form-factor
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's working...

This product worked for 3 days and then stopped. We called APC and they say it had a system failure, it even turn off and wouldn't turn back on. I decided to leave it charging overnight without any equipment connected on the output connections and the next day started working when I turn it on!. So far is still working. I read the entire manual before installation and it doesn't say anything about charging the battery overnight or until fully charged before connecting any equipments to it, but it worked for me.
What's great about it: 3 years warranty; 10 output connections (2 of them oversize); 780 Watts / 1300 VA . 120 V
What's not so great: Battery; Instructions; I stiil have some doubts on reliability
I would recommend this to a friend!
