The Dharma box set is only for the dedicated fan. The orientation materials are fun. I did expect more extras on the DVDs. There were only a few commentaries.
About my set: It is supposed to come with a copy of the "truce" between R. Alpert and the Dharma Initiative, sealed in a "confidential" envelope. But when I opened the envelope -- empty. Slightly disappointing, but I'll get over it.
The Blu-Ray is stunning, especially with the beauty of Hawaii and of some of the actresses on display.
What's great about it: Goodies and extras
What's not so great: The "confidential" folder was empty

Having been one of those folks that didn't watch a single episode of Lost until mid 2009, I look back now and laugh as I understand all the amazing hype this show has to offer. I now own seasons 1-5 on Blu-ray and am amazed at the incredible nature of how this show pulls viewers in, doesn't let go and keeps them guessing.
If you, like myself last year, decide to give Lost a go on Blu-ray, do yourself a favor and don't start with Season 5. Start from scratch. You will appreciate Season 5 even more.....that and you will have a better idea of what is going on, sort of. Let me explain.
Lost is one of those shows that you must watch from the very season to understand what is going on. Having said that, Season 5 is a first doozy. If you thought seasons 1-4 were out of this world then you simply can't be prepared at what Season 5 dishes out. In other words, I felt I was following the story pretty well, then Season 5 comes along and makes my head tilt in the same way when a dog hears a strange sound.
I feel Season 5 is the most difficult season to follow but fear not, if you are paying some attention you will follow along fine. Just don't be skipping around episodes. The show does that enough on it's own.
The quality of the 1080p videos is incredible. Some of the visuals in this season are Blu-ray demo material. Quite a few times I paused the picture just to gawk at what I was looking at. Even though the previous seasons looked amazing, Season 5 has a sharpness to it that will make you sit back in your recliner in awe.
Sound is decent. The DTS-MA track is crisp and clear with lound thundering bass at times. The only negative thing I can say about the overall amazing sound is the rear speakers didn't seem like they got a lot of attention this time. Previous seasons had more and louder surround effects, at least with my system. As always, your system may vary.
To be honest, I didn't check out every bonus feature. There are some cool interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff but one of the main bonus features is on Disc 4. For some reason the menu link for one of the bonus features is on Disc 5. When selecting this particular link, a message pops up telling you to insert Disc 4.
Overall you can't go wrong with this season. Sure, it may be confusing to watch at times but it does keep you guessing....all the way up until the very last moment. I am now caught up with the series and anxiously away the arrival of the final 6th season. I will be watching it on TV with the millions of other folks that are pulled into this incredible show, with incredible acting, and incredible sound and picture.
The only down sides to watching it on TV are the video won't be as crisp as it is broadcast in 720p (which is another great reason to watch the show on Blu-ray - 1080p), commercials, and the fact that I am now going to be one of those people that has to sit on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next episode a week or so later.
Oh the agony!!! Aaaaaaaaa. =:^)
What's great about it: The visuals. Wow!
What's not so great: Rear surround support isn't as great as other seasons.

Easily one of my favorite seasons of the show! Love love love the way they used the island time travel to actually show how people in the past ended up on the island BEFORE the plane crash. The arrival of the Black Rock, Rousseau, Widdemore being an "other", the rest of the giant "Foot" statue...just awesome.
STILL waiting for Henry Gale's smiley faced balloon though (hope they get that in there for the final season in Feb).
What's great about it: More interesting episodes, finally answering BIG questions, JACOB!!!

I am a huge fan of the show and I really liked the season 5 dvd. The only thing I didn't like was the price. I have bought all the Seasons(1-4) for less than 40 dollars and this fifth season had less episodes and less features and was the most expensive season DVD yet. I one purchased this dvd because I had a 30 dollar gift card. If your like the show and cant wait for the dvd to be cheaper then buy it if not it is not worth the price
What's great about it: episodes and bonus features

Best show I've ever watched. I waited impatiently for this 5th season to come out. Now look forward to, but am disappointed with it being the final season.
What's great about it: exciting story, keeps you rivited
